The term ”compact camera” has nothing to do with size. It is a by definition a compact camera 😀

If Fujifilm made a GFX 100R with both viewfinder and rangefinder windows (think X-Pro 3), they'd sell like hotcakes!

Totally agree with. After 15 years, where I used Olympus e30 with 12-60swd, moved to Nikon D90 > Fujifilm x20 > Sony RX10 > Pentax k3 > KP > K3mkiii with limited lens and star lenses top - finally after 8 years with great Pentax I get back to m4/3 OM-1 and OM-5 with PRO 12-40 40-150. Reason? Compactness of that system.

I just purchased the SL but Im very new to the whole Leica systems so I'm curious about the smaller lens & the adapters u used for them to work…? Also, I like the smaller look with the smaller lenses - looks more travel friendly. Gud video, without being an actual review 📸👍🏾

Nice video. I'm currently looking for a superzoom compact because my phone, I realized, has such crappy zoom it's frustrating when I went to a concert! So I saw this on one local online store for a very affordable price, and I think it has everything I would want for the price, including tilting LCD, EVF, Wifi, superzoom with constant f2.8 aperture, and it just so happened to have the biggest sensor size for all the cameras I'm considering now for the price range. I'm excited to get this!

It doesn't have a focus by wire lens, like you mention in the video. That's why you can zoom in and out without turning it on . . . not that you can see through it without turning it on, because it is a mirrorless camera. Too bad it was a fixed-lens camera. I had one, and the raw buffer could only hold two shot. That was its biggest downfall in my opinion. I couldn't stand that, so I bought a Canon 5 D. I did get some good photos with it through the years I owned it though. It's demise, at the hands of a wave at the beach, caused me to buy a Nikon D5000, which I loved. At least that camera had the ability to use a variety of lenses. ;)

No it is focus by wire, not being zoom by wire doesn’t change that.

@2;50 This I fully agree with feel whole-heartedly - whilst I have a flagship Sony, and yes it is very fast at capturing things like swallows or bats in flight, it has no soul and so everyday I reach for my ancient Nikon dSLR - especially at night. I much prefer an OVF at night.

Im not going to say mirrorless are bad camera's, as they are far from bad. The quality that can be produced is amazing. However, my personal preference is the DSLR, currently using the Nikon D3s, and due to braking my D800e, I have upgraded to the Nikon D850 which I am eagerly waiting for its arrival. I personally find the DSLR cameras have more to offer for creativity where as a lot of mirrorless cameras will do all the creativity within the camera its self by choosing the right tool in the menu. I still use a macro focus rail for doing macro work. Personal preference. The more people rely on the camera's ability to do the job for them the quicker they lose the personal skills to do it themselves. I have fallen foul of that myself, and still pick up my daughters D90 from time to time.

My favorite “older” camera is the Olympus EP-1. The color from this camera is amazing to me. Also still have my original Minolta Dimage 1500ex with a gigantic 1.5 or less megapixels. Fun to use, touted by Popular Photography magazine (remember that) as producing sharp I vivid images. Have the Sony R1 but haven’t used it much, beautiful camera.

Ok, so I do shoot with a D850 and love every minute of it. That said I started on a mirror-less (Lumix gh3) and hated the battery cycling and evf. Ok so I get that battery life is getting better and Evf's are less nausea inducing these days. But everything u said about DLSR's is right. I love the sound of the mirror slap, love getting nearly 2,000 photos per battery. And looking at the photos side by side with the z8/z9, their identical (with the D850 having slightly better dynamic range during editing). Just please don't mention the AI focusing or frame rate ...

D850's DR is way superior to the new Nikon expensive mirrorless, Z6III, and the really more expensive Z8 and Z9 . D850 has much better files to work with if you don't need the super fast frame rates .Never sell your D850's D4's D5's D6's there will never be another OVF great cameras that does everything, especially like the D850 . These OVF DSLR's will out last any EVF mirrorless, as eventually once the screen EVF goes wacky, you'r stuck and good luck trying to get a replacement EVF in five years time on you expensive Z6III or Z9.100% there will be no fix or replacement EVF. Nikon will want you to buy a new camera. The planned obsolesce is deliberately built in to most electronic today. On the other hand the glass pentaprism OVF on a DSLR will out last religion .

I just got myself a OM1 Mark II and sold my R6 Mark II. Got that one mainly for macros. Coming from Canon its night and day difference. Autofocus is actually usable, pictures look sharper and i can use a flash while bracketing! Crazy concept for Canon somehow. Now I start eyeballing the telezoom lenses for some Zoo photography, the 40-150 f2.8 might be the best pick for that. Heard mixed opinions about the 100-400 lens unfortunately. Otherwise that might've replaced my R7 with the RF 100-400 which is pretty good.

I think z6iii will not sell as well as nikon expects. 16 years and 10 cameras with 24mp for $3200 in my country. Im picking up a 2nd used d850 and will not move to Z. I may move to sony E though with an a7iv or a7v. well see. I waited a long time for the z6iii. nikon milking that 24mp for decades. im tired of nikon. its why I stay on F and not Z

I'm thinking about getting the OM-5 since I already own a good collection of M4/3 lenses. I'm kinda disappointed they just threw it out there with the old menu system while the OM-1 gets a vastly improved UI. Other than that, my decision would really only come down to design. This might be controversial, but if I don't like how a camera looks, I'm probably not going to pick it up and use it daily.

I like my XT5. I LOVE my D800e and Pentax K3 (brilliant camera). The image quality is just as good if not better on these. But the experience with DSLR is much better: the OVF is nicer and more natural to shoot with, and is more of a film camera experience, as is the shutter click. Also the access to stunning, cheaper vintage lenses on the same mount. I'm just glad they're still cheap (overall) to buy.😊

Over the past several years, I've indulged my gear lust built up over the preceding three decades. Among the cameras I've always wanted and finally obtained, were a Rollei 35 and a 35S. Of all the film cameras in my collection, the Rollei 35 is the one I use more than any other. It is a tactile delight to shoot and I find it often breaks the ice with strangers who might otherwise object to being photographed. In that regard, only a bellows camera might be more likely to engender an interested and relaxed smile from a subject. It's like the camera love child of a Mini and a Volvo 240. Boxy and adorable.
