This is really well executed. Good job! One question though. I don’t understand why after he presents the EO and the child doesn’t display any bx, he would remove attention and wait instead of just progressing to a demand (the natural sequence). If the child can handle it without PB (even if it’s just one trial) why are we stopping? Why not give the SD, see what happens and as soon as an inkling of resistance starts, prompt the my way.

Great question Adrienne! That’s actually what we ended up doing later in tx, on the rare occasion the EO presentation didn’t evoke communication. It worked better than the brief period when I feign distractedness (more of a CAB6 challenge). Hard to show it all in a short video :)

Is the bandana on the head a sort of additional Sd? Just curious. Thanks :)

I think the banana symbolize they are doing SBT and when he takes it off it signals they are no longer in an implementation phase

This is awesome. I'm a Brazilian Behavior Analyst and I'm translating the IISCA to us. It's very good to see the results of IISCA. Congratulations to your work.

Thanks for this. I think this is the first time I have seen actual video of FA procedures being implemented with adults! I've been working with adults for years and it can often feel a bit disheartening and dis-empowering when most of the behavioural literature is aimed towards children. So disseminating things like this is really important - thanks for doing this and I hope you continue to share your experiences with us!

Thanks for the response Anthony. I'm excited the video resonated with you. I totally agree with you regarding the lack of research and treatment being directed toward our adult IDD population. I would also add that most of what is considered evidence based for the IDD community is grounded in younger and a less impaired population. At Upstate Cerebral Palsy we are looking to change that by spearheading research and treatment with adults and those with severe disabilities. Keep us on your radar. The best is yet to come.
