Tire rub on a comp crawler isn't super odd. But you found the fix most do, wider hubs and smaller tires. And I would go with the new LP style servos that are being made for the SOA.
@idahorc9025
@idahorc9025 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. You're right, tire rub is more common than we'd like. I'll overlook a little body rub if it helps my C.O.G. But when it rubs the shock you run the risk of loosing you spring cups. And when the tire rubs the front of the frame like that: it can cause problems with the tire lifting because it's driving up the frame. I think the servo I have will be fine, but I'll definitely check out an LP style servo. Thanks for the tip!

How much spacer did you use on the servo? I did 2mm and that seems to work. But have not fully tested it yet.

Axial Honcho vs trx 4 sport? What do you think?
@idahorc9025
@idahorc9025 6 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. That's a good question. It depends on what you are doing. If you want a mud truck then TRX4 all the way. If It's someones first truck; I'd recommend the Honcho or Deadbolt. They are capable, durable and reliable, With a huge list of aftermarket parts. If theTRX4 chassis had more suspension options; it would beat the SCX10 2, on the rocks, hands down. But as I see it right now; it's pretty even for crawling.

Peter LaFontaine I've done more testing since this video. The Ascender is a little better than the SCX10II when they are bone stock. But when you start upgrading them the deuce quickly becomes more capable than the Ascender.

I tend to tell people that the Veterra is the one to get if you torn betwen the two. one note. the Veterra you have there looks like the truck I lower then a, straight out of the box RTR. maybe I missed if you said it was a kit or not. like the svx10II. good informative video 🖒🖒

And the winner is, VATERRA, I have both and others, but the Vaterra always outperforms the rest, Just do not add a lot of top weight to a vaterra, that is one thing they can not handle, Keep them as light as possible on top and they are amazing. To the point of that axial has more parts availability, yes maybe, BUT why do you need parts when like the Vaterra it already works great out of the box. Conclusion, Out of the box and pretty much stock, you will not find a better vehicle as the Vaterra, you want to build, try this and that, use heavy bodies or build something different than yes the axial is better. Many always write long wheel base etc, forget it, most of the time you need short wheelbase on a fun run, and for that the Vaterra Bronco is THE BEST, I had no other vehicle that ran better on the trail then the Bronco with little weight on top and some weight in the tires, in my case heavy aluminium bead locks with flat irons.So what would I buy to have fun with on the trails, VATERRA, Bronco or Chevy K10.

Oliver G. Thank you for your input. I definitely see why you love the Ascender. It's a very solid platform. The group that I crawl with is very competitive. After this video I decided to run the Duce. I got rid of the bumpers and moved a few things around. Aside from the Ascender 110mm shocks in the back with Junfac shock relocation and different wheels and tires, It's all stock parts. I'm out crawling all the Ascenders in the group, Even a guy with a bronco who I would say has better skills than me. (don't tell him I said that ) Now I'm not saying the scx10 2 is better for everybody. But I am saying it's better for what my group is doing.

Prodigal J . I think you're right. but at the time I made this; there was only the kit scx10ll available. I could say that it's kit verses kit since the Ascender kit is pretty much the same as the rtr. Yes they are very close performance wise.

Idaho RC Vaterra Ascender shows a little bit of torque twist while SCX10 II not that much. and some say Ascender has a weak drive shafts, I have yet to find out. and it has body rub.

@idahorc9025
@idahorc9025 7 жыл бұрын
Greg Predmore thank you for watching. There are as many theories on "a good setup" as there are crawler enthusiasts. Driving style and terrain are big reasons why. These are my thoughts, leaning on my years of competing. As for the rims; I made them. They are prototypes. I'm trying out a theory. Like everything else, there are pluses and minuses. I'm making new foams for them. Hopefully I'll be adding more pluses.

@CarminesRCTipsandTricks
@CarminesRCTipsandTricks 5 жыл бұрын
I like the Wide Wheels!! There's lots of Full Size Big Trucks out there with very deep Rims like those. I'd love to find 1.55" Rims that deep... That's between 15" and 16" in 1/10 Scale..... More common on these kind of Trucks. The only issue with that is, the Tires would be expensive.

I added some extra bearings and some Teflon washers, aside from that it is basically built per the instructions.... So far I love it, there are a few minor things I wish were different, like enough room in the radio box for the BEC and probably the light controller I will be adding soon.... But a CC BEC and RX won't both fit... But I love the amount of steering I am getting!
