The Dnepr motorcycles are named after the river that flows through Kiev Ukraine. You are pronouncing it correctly. KMZ stands for Kiev Motorcycle Factory. At first KMZ Dnepr motorcycles were only for military use and foreign motorcycle sales but asked for and received permission to sell them to civilians that needed a heavy duty motorcycle despite it's higher cost than it's cousin Ural motorcycles built by IMZ in Irbits Russia built for civilians and non military foreign sales. KMZ Dnepr motorcycles were very poorly made and lacking in quality. It was understood that you had to take it completely apart, inspect everything, fix everything, and then reassemble it correctly. After the collapse of the Soviet Union on Christmas day 1991 Ukraine got it's country back. They found thousands of Dnepr motorcycles in warehouses in storage to be used in some future war. The USA wanted to help Ukraine and so allowed selling "Indiana Jones motorcycles" in the USA advertising them in vehicle collector magazines in the USA. They didn't tell anyone what condition they were actually in. Many people that purchased them ended up scraping the motorcycle and using the sidecar and frame on Harley Davidson and Honda Goldwing motorcycles. I found a complete Dnepr MT-11 that sat untouched in a barn from 1992 until I dug it out and trailered it home in November 2019. I knew what I was getting and spent the entire Winter rebuilding it. Today is a good reliable motorcycle that's fun to ride, which I do a lot.

The good thing about these bikes is the ergonomics. They are standard design. No chopper or sport bike design. I hope they succeed. Design and build their own engine, I hope.

That's way beyond what a small town shop can do. And there are no small American-made motorcycle engines. They use a Chinese license-built CG Honda engine.

I think it'd be cool if they could get there. Even if it's 'just' a licensed engine. It seems like they're doing things right and for the right reason

Yonkers Motorcycle Club started as the Yonkers Bicycle Club in 1879 by Elliot Mason who was the number one dealer of Columbia bicycles for the Pope Manufacturing Company in New York. He was also responsible for creating the League of American Wheelmen in 1880 along with Kirk Munroe and Charles Pratt. The traditions that were set by Mason and his club carried over into the Yonkers Motorcycle Club in 1903. George Ellis was a member of the Yonkers Bicycle Club who later became the founder and first president of the Yonkers Motorcycle Touring Club along with seven other members. George Ellis became one of the most notable motorcycle enthusiasts in motorcycle history, setting and breaking numerous endurance runs.

Hi Chris, thanks for the comment. I hope you'll tune in next spring when I start adding GoPro content and other visual assets. I do admit this channel is different than many of the others in that it focuses more on audio at this point. But there are some channels out there just like this one. Here is a link to the introduction to this channel to give you a better idea of what it is about... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iK1joKWH3rWpnJ8.html Here's a "visual" video from the channel. A Trials Fusion play through... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/np-IpZpnyLbOfZ8.html Thanks for tuning in, hope to "see" you again soon. Ryon

They discontinued the machine gun mount. Seems it was getting harder and harder to get a machine gun, so... Ural is the ONLY OEM manufacturer selling bikes on the US at this time, period.

Yeah, I really enjoy my Aero as well. And If I'm looking to buy a used bike then I'm looking for something that shines. Less chrome equals less shine.

I agree with you. Of course I am older so I like the "old school" look. But also, I think the chrome adds another visibility factor. Blacked out is fine for those who like it and I am not knocking it. I love the chrome.
