Aside from the failed attempts, Coma looks quite capable Cletus. Curious about your music selections though... is this your own? I know some people write their own stuff. It's not entirely my taste (being an old metal head) but it does have a Rockabilly tone to it, which I do enjoy from time to time.

Nice! That thing is so low that it slides before rolling when others would roll. Those look like good tires, I've been going crazy lately trying to watch reviews on tires, so many different opinions and options. Also, i tried contacting Akers for that chassis, they are either out of business or have crap customer service. Looking at the Killr Chassis Spectr Pro XL instead. Expensive, but comes with more. They also look like a company that has little to no communication as of late, no social media posts, and out of stock. We will see if they reply. Thanks for the video, badass music selection.
@Cletusl3ocephus
@Cletusl3ocephus 23 күн бұрын
That's the problem with these aftermarket parts, they are run by mom and pops and rarely keep stock on the best items. With Akers it's just a dude and his wife, he does work projects for a few weeks and then does crawler stuff for a week or two. He had the chassis in stock but it was a month before he had more links....I was considering the killr for my next build!
@Cletusl3ocephus

Oh, yeah they are from lgrp...swamper, super swampers, something like that. This was the third set I tried when I built this, I am a fan of these tires! They are grippy on loose surfaces as well as rock, I'm pleased

This rig kicks ass while taking names!.. an angry little beast! Thank you, i really wanted to see under that hood. I've been eyeballing that same chassis.. was thinking about stretching it out with long rear links, throwing on some wide axles and big tires, and having modular shock towers with more upright shock mounting positions. Not sure on the body, but have been thinking about chopping off the ridiculously long bed of the LGRP Toyota body. Gonna try to drop the rig low as possible, so no portals, but will likely opt for nylon X15 with brass where it's needed. Thank you for the show and tell!
@Cletusl3ocephus
@Cletusl3ocephus Ай бұрын
I'm glad you like it Mrs Rabbit! On this one I used a "stock" brass axle for the front and a truly stock one in the rear. On another rig I've used the Meus isometric (sp?) axles and they are top notch. You certainly won't be going wrong with those X15s though, I'm considering them for my next build.
@MrsRabbit8
@MrsRabbit8 Ай бұрын
@@Cletusl3ocephus nice, yeah the x15 are simply super solid, this will be more of a 1/18 scale so i want tough axles. We will see, not sure on all the components. Just looked at Akers website again, damn they have some cool stuff! The links look a bit rough-cut unfinished, but they look like they'd work great.
@MrsRabbit8
@MrsRabbit8 Ай бұрын
Damn, I'm sorry to bug you, but that skid, where is that from? It looks smoothe! Very smooth and flush with the belly. The one on the website is different. They are out of carbon fiber, and only have aluminum and titanium. Titanium is better, but a pita to modify because it's so tough.
@Cletusl3ocephus
@Cletusl3ocephus Ай бұрын
@@MrsRabbit8 Not bugging at all! It's an ogrc flatskid from Amazon. I'm not great at build videos, I should have talked about the flow. The flat skid together with the front diff skid and the hind skid really let it slide over the rocks, which is essential because I have it tightly limited to stay low. The diff skids come from 3flow9rc and I highly recommend them! He also sells those nifty roller bearing steering links.
@MrsRabbit8
@MrsRabbit8 Ай бұрын
@@Cletusl3ocephus awesome! Thank you, i thought that was it. Also, i bought a bearing steering arm recently, very cool! Okay, my build is coming together! I'm ordering the parts soon; -Akers Titanium Comp Gecko Chassis -52mm Nexx adjustable oil shocks -carbon shock towers to be mounted on angle off of the built in chassis towers to give upright shock angle and low ride height. (I just like more upright) -X15 nylon, with brass wideners, and brass here and there. -Furitek esc & motor -3flow9 parts -ogrc skid -gladiator length high clearance links -CCxRC Pine Tree tire inserts -LGRP x-factor Yota body (chopped off bed) -and a servo (must have wire out the rear, no stupid side wires) I'm gonna have to build it slow, I'm not rich. Oh man, i had long debates about this several years ago. My friends said it wouldn't help. I said yes it will, stick is ass end up and front down, and it will climb better without rolling back. Lean into the hill, much better, but always they said no no no. That thing is awesome. Right on! I've got an electronics guy who says he can attach a joystick to my transmitter for my thumb to control 4 servos. Been wanting to do this but a new kid got in the way. Congrats! New sub here!

At the end of the day I'd have to say it's an overall negative in terms of performance. It adds so much weight up high it's hard to compensate for it even with being able to move weight around. But it's also 100% badass and is a hoot to drive. It's not bad, it's just so much easier to flip than my other crawlers.
@MrsRabbit8
@MrsRabbit8 Ай бұрын
@@Cletusl3ocephus right on, yeah i could imagine that. When designing my system (which was never realized), i came across the same problem. Trying to limit weight i could use one strong servo and choose "lean forward or lean back" OR "side to side". Ehh. It's just cool to see this done, total props man. Cheers!
