I got one for free, inherited might be the right word. A 201k of the earlier model, from 1935. It's worth its weight in gold if you ask me, and it weighs a lot. It just runs and runs with minimal maintenance. That's the value. There's another one I could take, with a table. I'll look through it but I probably won't take anything but parts.

Hello! Do you still have this sewing machine? Or, another Singer 328? I got this model as a gift, but it has some tension problems. The bottom stitches on the fabric are not right. I disassembled the top tension (needle thread tension). When I compare with other machines on KZfaq, mine is missing a stop dial washer. I'm a beginner to sewing, so I don't know if not having the washer could make a big difference on the stitches. Thank you!

Hi, thank you so much for watching and for your message. Unfortunately I sold my Singer 328k to make room for other Singer sewing machines. Missing a washed DOES make a difference. Like many other Singer parts you can order parts online. Simply look only for a parts manual and write down the Simanco (=SInger MANufacturing COmpany) part number. Then go to a sewing machine parts vendor and type in the part number you are looking for. When it comes to tension units: You can order the individual parts or the entire assembled tension unit. Are you on FB? You may want to join a Singer vintage sewing machine group and ask fellow members to post a picture of their machines. Good luck!

Hi. Thank you so much for watching and your message. The Singer 66 is a great machine. There are some variations on the class 66. If you have the version with a guiding wheel on the bottom sewing machine bed/plate (directly under the winding mechanism): simply move that guiding wheel a little to the left or right. This should solve your problem. Good luck and enjoy your Singer 66!

Hey Erik, great video...Today I picked up a Antique Singer 15-91 sewing machine with a serial number C000549 decoder dates this machine 1908 however no information on the serial number starting with "C" is this a rare find? Needs some work but overall good condition no rust...has a travel case with two small drawers and a foot petal, motor works, light works, original manual, the drop-in bobbin is missing, needs to be rewired. Your thoughts...thanks.

@erikneek 12 күн бұрын
Hi, thank you for your message. I'm glad you liked the video. Your machine is interesting. The C-serial number means that your Singer was built in the Wittenberge plant in Pruisia (now Germany I think). There are no records of the production, however there are a couple of lists to --be found with Google-- with serial numbers and dates but I don't know if they are correct. A Singer 15-91 has a potted motor. But I have NEVER seen a potted motor in Europe. Maybe the potted motor was an American update??? I also have never seen a travel case with drawers. So all in all a very interesting machine. I dont know where you're located but in the US a 15-91 is not a rare machine, but a Wittenberge machine is. In Europe a 15-91 is rare, but a Wittenberge machine is not. I hope this answers your question. Have a great day!

What an interesting video. I have an old Singer. The serial number is: Y5617258 and I cannot find a ref to the year it was made on line. I think it’s a very common machine. It’s very heavy which is why I would like to get rid of it, happy to give it away! Do you recognise the number? Thank you.

@@sonjames6114 hi Sonja. Your machine is probably a Singer model 99k. Built in 1927 in the Kilbowie plant in Clydebank Scotland. The Singer 99 is the same as a model 66, yet 3/4 the size of a singer 66 thus lighter and more portable. Singer made A LOT of these machines so they are very common. The 99 is a very nice machine and easy to work with (like nearly all vintage Singers) Have a great day and good luck with your sewing machine.

Thank you so much for watching and your comment. I'm glad you liked the video. Regarding the music: I find it very hard to do the voice overs in English. Some sentences are combined of 5 takes of one single sentence. Sometimes even more!!! I even need to cuts in single words and combine several takes of a single word. As a result the ambient noise is all over, and the cuts in the voice over track are VERY noticeable. Without music you'd go crazy. So I NEED music to mask all the cuts in the audio track. But in general I understand your comment: When focusing on the content, music is often distracting.

Here we go: Close the panel of the lower bobbin with a couple of inches thread out of it. Then thread the upper part of the thread, all the way until the needle. Now, clamp down/push the thread of the upper thread and make a full rotation with the balance wheel. The needle will pick up the lower thread. And now you're good to go.

@erikneek
@erikneek 29 күн бұрын
Hallo.

@erikneek
@erikneek 28 күн бұрын

@Quesjer1 28 күн бұрын
Oil it again with sewing machine oil and let it set for a day. Then try again. If it doesn't help: Do it again and wait for another day. I'm sure you will get it working again. Good luck!!!

@@bciecko1 Hi Bradford. Thank you so much for your description of the issue you're facing. As a non-English speaker (and reader) I hope I understand your problem, but I could have misunderstood it!!! Could it be that the washer inside the knob was not placed correctly? If so, that's a very easy task. Unscrew the little screw in that knob (but do not remove that screw). Now you can remove that knob by turning it counterclockwise until it is completely loose. There is a washer between that knob and the main shaft. Turn it around (mirror image) and put the knob back on that main shaft again. And tighten the little screw back again. Now try to retighten the knob. Does it work like it should? If this doesnt help, try to capture it on video (with your phone) and post a question in a Singer 201-group on Facebook. Video DOES help people to understand the issue (including me ;-)). You can find the manual by searching on Google or other search engines. But you can also download them at some facebook groups. Join the Singer Swing Needle Machines group. Then, if you are a member, go to the files section and download the manual you need. Good luck!!!

Hi, you might want to replace the bobbin case holder in order to use standard needles. Those adjusted cases makes it possible to use standard needles.

@erikneek
@erikneek Ай бұрын
Hi, thank you so much for watching. Most EXTERNAL motors can be replaced with a new motor, like an YDK-motor (on ebay or other sites). Unfortunately the 401 has an internal motor. That makes replacing much more difficult!

@@user-sn4vb5ff8q I know it has an internal motor. And as I have stated in my previous reply: That will be difficult to replace. If you're attached to your machine you might want to search for another to use that second machine for parts.

Why do ppl have music on instructional videos
@erikneek
@erikneek Ай бұрын
My videos need music because I sometimes use up to 10 parts of different takes of ONE single sentence. (That is one of the drawbacks of not being a native English spekaer). So the background noise is all over and the music masks those voice-over edits. But you're right: In this case -this video- the music was WAAYYYY TOO loud. (I have a hearing disability so mixing and balancing sound to very difficult. But I made a revised version with... less prominent music. I hope you like that version better. Take care and have a wonderful day!
