Yes! This Journey strap is exactly the type of strap I am looking for for my R6 as well, I have been scouring the web trying to find one that is thicker around where it touches your neck/shoulder, but slim everywhere else. The Peak Design straps besides the Leash are all soooo bulky. It looks like people walking around with a full on seatbelt on and it just gets in the way when you raise the camera to your eye. I will have to check this out. Thanks for sharing.

Focusing tip: you can disable the half press shutter button focus in continuous only and then whenever you set your manual focus for zone focusing, flick that focus switch to continuous effectively locking the focus distance so you can’t bump it. Then you can still use back button focus to use autofocus.

I found your comments about criticism for photographing the back of a person pretty broad. In wildlife photography, avoiding rear shots makes sense since they often lack interest. However, it's different for human subjects. In the photos you mentioned, the focus isn't on the derriere but rather on capturing a different perspective or context. Saul Leiter once said: "A person's back tells me more than the front."
@TheLiamGordon
@TheLiamGordon 26 күн бұрын
@@abhijit-sarkar I don’t feel like it was broad, I was speaking of that specific image and the “don’t photograph people’s backs” rule that is often espoused online. But as with images, sentences may be interpreted in a different way too and maybe that’s what has happened here.

The newest APO-Summicron-M 35 APH is a terrific lens on an M11, M11 Monochrom, or SL2. It is sharp, apochromatically corrected, has 2 more aperture blades than the previous version, and can focus to 0.3 m (which requires using Live View on the rear LCD screen or the EVF).

Get the VM Ultron2 35/2 and you will not miss the Summicron at all. The Voigtlander is a better and smaller 35/2. I have had a v4 35 Cron for 35 years and love that lens for its character so def a fan boy here but facts are facts. IMO the Ultron is the best M 35/2 buy for money. Great review! Do you have any take on the difference between this lens and the 35mm f1.4 Summilux?
@kevin-parratt-artist
@kevin-parratt-artist Ай бұрын
They are different. The Summicron is rectilinear (zero distortion) with maximum, corner to corner resolution. The Summilux produces magnificent images at full aperture, which is the only reason to spend the extra money. Stopped down, it will match the Summicron in most aspects.
@TheLiamGordon

Thanks for watching! I haven't spent time using the 35 Summilux but I may try one in the future for fun. I am willing to bet that I would not see much of a difference between the two other than the extra stop of light wide open.

I just got this lens yesterday used from a shop. It’s the silver colour, I was surprised as for the price the online description stated it does not come with the hood and then strangely it was in the box. The lens is like new so I’m really happy. But I find with a 50mm I can focus without my glasses but with the 35mm I cannot nail focus at f2. Great review, I’m using it on a M246 (monochrom) nice review 👍

I have to say that your review corresponds well to the short experience that I recently had with it, and even with paying used pricing I decided to return it. The lens certainly can deliver good IQ (on the X-T30 I used it with), but the lens is unexpected heavy/dense, and I just noticed it so much while using it, and combined with the overly stiff zoom ring and what I found to be the inconsistent photo AF I ended up having a lousy shooting experience and many missed shots. For me, the lack of a mid-telephoto zoom is and continues to the most major shortcoming of the Fuji system as a travel photography system, which I otherwise like for that purpose. (I've tried the 70-300 and found that it sucked too, to my great disappointment.)

Do you never miss a shot because you miscalculated the distance? Also which aperture are you using usually?😊
@TheLiamGordon
@TheLiamGordon 2 ай бұрын
I mostly use f11 and set the distance to 10ft and leave it there. I’ll use f8 on cloudy days. That way almost everything is in focus all of the time. If something is close I pull the lens to about 3-4 feet and it usually works out. I rarely find anything is not sharp enough and it frees my mind up to pay attention to my surroundings. This might not work for most people but it just seems to click for me when doing street photography. But yes, I occasionally do miss focus.

Leica look is not about image quality. The Summicron lenses are not the lenses from Leica that can render the Leica look. Summilux and Noctilux are the lenses with caractère that will render the LL. Some other oldest lenses from Leica ca also do it. Those lenses were made by hands and are different to each others.

for me, i can see its value as a one and done kind of leica lens; great IQ, a fair heft, and sick ergonomics. heck, it’s even cheaper than the KoB because used modern lens isn’t so demanded, so it’s a banger value price to performance in second-hand market. but if you already have other M lenses, it’ll be moot in marginal returns. since they can do 80-90% for a fraction of the price- it’s hard to justify having one. as for me, been enjoying it a lot on the m4, and like the flexibility of the 6-bit tech if i get a digital M. i knew i wanted a cron later on, “buy once cry once” so they say!
