Sorry, but you're wrong about Silent Hills. Guillermo Del Toro once said in an interview that him, Hideo Kojima and Junji Ito met together to discuss ideas for upcoming Silent Hills. I remember it vividly, in that interview Guillermo Del Toro also said that Junji Ito is an extremely shy, quiet guy that just scribbled his ideas in his notebook on their meetings.

That's very interesting. It would be great if you had the link for that interview. I feel this topic is strange because there are many sources saying mixed messages. One thing I have found out for sure, which still stands true in my video, is that Junji Ito did 0 work on the game. No sketches were even started, let alone completed. He may have scribbled some stuff in his notebook, but that doesn't mean those ideas came to fruition. If the game didn't get scrapped, maybe then we would have seen more involvement from his side.

1. I remember coming across a site where you can read all Junji Ito manga for free back in 2015. 2. Please look at how Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man gained massive traction between 2020-2023.

Ishii just told me about your new video and I had to come and watch it right away. 😂 I loooove A Sign of Affection. The art style and the characters are very charming. I'm so glad I got all the volumes instead of getting the Omnibus though. They have colored pages at the beginning of each volumes (it's only 2 pages of art but I still think it's neat!). 💙 I watched the anime and wanted more so I started reading it. 🤗

Being a weekly manga artist is like voluntary slavery. Working yourself to the bone for what they would probably earn on minimum wage unless their series becomes really popular. Japan as a whole needs to fix its’ work culture. It’s one of the richest countries in the world but also one of the most miserable.

I agree. The country on its surface is beautiful and clean, but there are a lot of things happening behind the scenes which are very disturbing and leading people to live unfulfilling lives. Overwork being one of many. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common trend in the manga industry.

He was in a event in Brazil a while ago, but unfortunately I couldn't go meet him because it was in another city far away from mine. His autograph is beautiful 😢 I found out about his works because of a interview on KZfaq that I watched 3 or 4 years ago. Since then I have read almost everything he wrote.

So when he came to TCAF in Canada a few years ago it was super hyped. I waited in line to get a signature but was a few people off. Even then there was a bunch of people who wanted to meet him and caused multiple organization issues with the sheer number of ppl who wanted to meet him/watch his panel. I can only imagine how it would go now that he’s only become more popular

I’d also imagine that while not as significant as the points in your video, him visiting this festival (and designing the poster art for it!!) helped gain him some exposure as well (at least in Canada)

I have a bad habit of collecting only first prints or in One Piece terms, the gold foil first prints. I love the old first print VIZ and Shonen Jump logo, and some are rare. But it's more expensive to collect.

Yeah I don't see a lot of manga anymore with the trademark SJ logo on the spine. My Death Note volumes are the oldest and they say "SJ Advanced" but the reprints in the box sets just say "SJ". Its interesting.

I guess this is good a place as any to confess noob mistake. When I was 22, my cousin finally got me to watch one piece and I got hooked and binged it in 4 months. Learned about the anime and manga release gap and read the rest on shonen Jump. Few weeks later found out about manga collecting and watched some manga tube and decided to collect one piece cause I hoped to own the completed story after it was done. I had thought it would be a long journey to slowly collect each volume one by one - figured it would be YEARS of hunting each volume in the wild, searching coast to coast and the highs and lows of the web. Went to amazon and learned about box sets and saw that discount price that I thought was limited once in a lifetime deal, and bought the entire series in the same month. Two years later they are basically the same price. 🤦 I'm just glad that dumb moment was the beginning and end of my impulse spending tendency.😅 Be patient and due your research kids- this hobby is very fun even when you do it responsibly.🫡

My first Manga I collected was bakuman. Let me just say when I move I watch the package with These books inside like a hawk. I have the complete Serie from the first Edition and even when they are not worth much I would never trade them. I have also other books and complete series but everything started with these books.

@@richtaku Yes, the box set has only been around since 2013 when the last volume came out. I've been collecting the individual books since 2009. I only found out about the box set years after it came out. I also think my silver books are generally nicer than the white ones. Furthermore, the box set is usually only available for the English market and I only got my books individually in German.

Thank YOU for tuning in 🙏! Regarding Vegabond, it's crucial to mention that the manga remains unfinished, with the author currently not planning to resume work on it. Personally, I would recommend Vinland Saga, especially with the recent release of new deluxe editions combining three volumes in one. Moreover, Vinland Saga is nearing its conclusion, making it a good choice for building a complete collection. One Piece is definitely an option too but catching up to its current manga status may be quite the journey. In conclusion, my vote goes to VINLAND SAGA! 👍

Even if these series go unfinished, I only wish that notes or a summary of their original vision would be released or would have been written down so that we can see what they wanted to see as a finished work.

Save your money and reward yourself with a manga volume every once in a while; OR, if your old enough, get some sort of a job or start selling things that you don't want or need to get more money. If you get pocket money every month, then its just a matter of setting a budget and buying less, so you save more. It all comes down to YOU. There is no simple solution that I can give you unfortunately. Good luck. 👍

I have veered away from buying hard copies of manga, mostly because I'm running out of shelf space, but I think I'll make an exception in this case. There are only 4 volumes in total so they're not going to take up too too much space, and they look absolutely beautiful so I'm going to go for it! Thank you for helping me decide!

No problem! This is exactly why I try to stick to shorter series. You don't have to commit yourself to hundreds of volumes and you can complete a collection of manga within a few volumes. Thanks for watching.

Another underrated manga you might want to check out is "Beet! The Vandal Buster," it went on hiatus due to poor health of the author. Not sure if the author has recovered or not but that series should have had an anime series. I think it was about to start the endgame arc when it just stopped.
