I like what you are doing and what you have said. My motto has always been "if it doesn't give you Joy, why are you doing it?" I am retired and indulging in many mixed media adventures. I have discovered I love collage and abstract painting, gel printing, and grid journaling. I created for myself a "curriculum". And there are several "classes" still sitting on the shelf because I am in such a love affair with collage. Your words resonate with me.

@@mtdebemigrant1435 A great motto ! Took me a long time to recognise that. I never thought years ago I would be in love with expressional abstracts, but I believe it's the journey I needed to get here. X

I definitely hear you when you talk about trying to keep up with others in the competitive colouring and arty communities eg ‘how can I get better, should I get this material or mediums, will it make me improve etc. it becomes a bit overwhelming in the end and I have been seeking out this kind of video to just be able to loosen up a bit as well. I am an Aussie too so was glad to hear an Australian voice, I have subscribed so that I can go along this journey with you into Zen non anxiety mindfulness. Thanks for your video. 👍

I love this. I had a dream recently that this man made such beautiful art and very quickly - with great speed. I told him I love to make art, but my art doesn't look anything like his, and I asked how I could make my art better. He told me to loosen up (same words you used in this video) and then he let me know to just keep creating lots and lots of art. I am definitely going to try this intuitive art exercise. And I love that you just used one color, with different tones and different media. This looks fun and enjoyable, but also very Zen-like. 😊

a friend of mine recently (months ago) started a weekly art night and ive been struglging to find something relaxing and fun to do that i didnt feel self conscious about being Good At TM. watching this video i was so instantly inspired to just play with different types of materials and see how colors interact and just go with the flow of things. I will definitely be trying this style at the next one!

thank you for this video. ive doodled most of my life but ive always kept this separation in my mind, as if doodling wasnt "proper art" - whatever that is! i totally empathise with feeling stressed about your art and especially feeling desperste to improve and hating ths outcome when its not perfect. i think this method you'e shown is great, and its really helped me re-evaluate how i look at my doodle art. i'm definitely going to be trying this out as soon as i get a new sketchbook!

Love this! I have been struggling with something very similar. When I make something it always seems that it has to have a purpose or reason. I am trying hard to break out of this mindset. It has hindered me to the point that I sit at my art table and just have no idea what to do, and then just do nothing. It can be quite frustrating. TY for sharing your thoughts and heart, it is great;y appreciated.

Hi Sonya - yes! This is for me - I love this concept! I don’t have a KZfaq channel or post on IG, so I don’t have that kind of stress. But I get into slumps and have a hard time climbing out of them, and this seems so doable. I have a new square sketchbook I’ve only done a few pages in that would be perfect for this. Thanks so much for sharing, I like the direction of your new channel.

Hi Sonya, thank you. I have a couple of questions, 1) what kind of wax are the tea candles made of, 2) do these wax crayons fully dry/cure as opposed to oil pastels that never dry, and 3) have you experimented with adding safflower or linseed oil? Thanks for your time.

Hello, the wax tea candles are just your normal parrafin wax maybe you could try bees wax ? and no they still won't fully dry unfortunately. Thanks for watching.

I reccomend on adding linseed oil and chalk to the mixture. Linseed makes it dry more permanent and chalk is a filler. I tried it myself works fine and dries good. Defenetly you should test the ammounts you add. Maybe less wax since wax does not dry permanetly.
