These are awesome! It's hard to pick up how to use the various prepositions in Chamorro without examples in spoken language. The videos by Nihi are so helpful because they let me hear other people talking from back home. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing. I also was at Mannenggon. My mother and I walked together from Utan, Mongmong alongside family members. I was just a young child of 4 or 5. My mother’s sister and my younger sister were taken and we never knew what happened to them. Memories of those dark times are imprinted in my memories. Thank you, sir. May God bless you with many years. 🙏🏽🕯️🙏🏽Joyce I. Castro Camacho (Leddy) Martratt

West Papua is a victim of OUR governments and ongoing illegal conduct of UN employees. On 21st September 1962 our governments voted (General Assembly res.1752) to give the new UN Secretary General U Thant permission to invade West Papua and appoint Indonesia as the current administrator. Our governments were using article 85 part 1 of the UN Charter to authorise this; article 85 part 2 requires that the Secretary General tell the UN Trusteeship Council about the trusteeship agreement ('New York Agreement') so that the Council can then begin its article 87 & 88 duties making yearly UN reports to protect & promote independence of the colony (West Papua). In violation of the UN Charter, U Thant never told the Trusteeship Council; and nor have any of the subsequent Secretary Generals. IF UN employees were honest, they would insist on revealing General Assembly resolution 1752 invasion & subjugation of West Papua to the UN Trusteeship Council to whom they should have reported it in 1962.

Hu guaha este na bideo gi “loop”! Sumememen maolelek!!! Bula minenhalom yan minetgot-ña put i Taotao Tano’ gi Islas Micronesia yan mås. All indigenous peoples from Palestine to i Pasifika to Sàpmi to the Basque region need to “remember what their Nåna said”. Or to invoke wisdom from our Ghanaian Mañe’lu so prominently featured here, remember to embrace the practice of “Sankofa” which means to reach back (to the past) in order to move forward, aka: “Remember what your Nåna said.”

The message is good. I see so much hype about Guam’s cultural and political activism but what is the actual goal(s), and what are people in that scene actually doing to progress towards that goal? Legitimate question. Sad to say that observation would suggest that a lot of people in that activist scene are very passionate in one way or another, but have no clear focus and don’t know how to actually accomplish these things in a real, concrete way. Even worse, some are just straight up delusional.

I think there are many concrete goals you'd find in our cultural and political activist spaces despite misconceptions of these groups and their strategies. For example, in the description box of this video, we are promoting Protect Guam Water's current petition to demand an immediate halt to the construction and operation of a firing range complex that will fire over 6.7 million rounds of ammunition over our coastline and aquifer--our primary source of water--every year. Since 2021, we've met with senators, testified at public hearings, and advocated for legislation that would prioritize our island's vital resources. If you study Guam's movements for self-determination, for land and water protection, for better education and health systems, you'll see that activists and organizers often represent the working class who deeply understand our community issues and actively work to make Guam better for future generations. In our experience with organizing in the activist world, we work directly with elders, cultural practitioners, teachers, environmental experts, business owners, mothers, students, lawyers, veterans, senators, and virtually every level of community to understand how we can work together to sustain our island and protect what is being threatened. Being a Protector is not just an abstract desire --- it is rooted in a very real, material goal of improving our people's quality of life. When you think of activists you might think of their passion, their demonstrations, their speeches. These are all important parts of the work. However, what you don't always see or realize is the behind the scenes advocating and mentoring. The hours spent researching, meeting with community leaders, educating in our public schools, or teaching traditional skills to the next generation to ensure our practices don't disappear. This movement has many frontlines with many urgent goals but all of them remain united in this larger dream: that every generation of islanders across the Marianas and Micronesia would feel a deep connection to these homelands and accept the calling of being their protectors.

Oooh whos delusional now. You got Served. And for your information every Activist in the decolonization movement I know Actually writes to our leaders and uses their priviledge to make actual change through direct Action in the community. Decolonize your mind @@HUEHUEHUE539
