I bought mine (very recently) because it saves me hauling out the vacuum as well BUT for really tough stains and stuck on gunk, nothing beats my Shark steam mop. Also the Bissel does a great job on my door mats which get quite disgusting and I like that I can freshen them up while I vacuum them. I also have a new Bissel (pet) vacuum which is excellent on cat hair on my carpet. I wish I knew they also made a steam Crosswave though it's quite pricey.

The Floormate is a little on the lite side and does not put much pressure on the brushes.I place a 20 pound rubberized dumbbell on top of my Floormate to add more pressure to the scrubbing brushes. This also forces you to move slower or the dumbbell will fall off. The suction hose on my Floormate failed from years of cleaning dog urine. Now I use a shop vac with the round brush attachment. I use a spray bottle with hot water and spray the grout as I go along. If you are cleaning dog or cat urine make sure to clean your vac every time or the next time you use it the oder will be unbearable. I like the shop vac method better and you can get in tighter places like a round toilets with out getting on your hands and knees.

Ive watched so many videos and read so much information about grout cleaning. First of all, Im against buying products that have been tested on animals. Plus, I cant use harsh chemicals since I have asthma. Ive tried hydrogen peroxide & baking soda, Bar Keepers Friend (powder & soft cleanser), toilet bowl cleaner (just tested to find it chipped the grout), Oxiclean, Oxyboost. NONE worked. I tried each one a bit differently a few times. But still nothing worked. Finally, I was so excited when I ordered Zep Geout Cleaner & Brightener. Guess what? It BARELY worked, even when i bought an electric grout brush! Im SO FRUSTRATED & SICK of staring at these now uneven dark & lighter grout lines in the bathroom floor. I want to give up. But im new at this & i need to figure out how to get this grout clean & MUCH lighter. Unfortunately, Im not investing anymore money on this project. I cant afford to buy or rent a steamer or anything of that sort. Ive been renting this apartment the past 2 years. Thos building is only about 4 years old. I also have chronic pain problems & Ive been waiting for knee replacement for 8 months now. Ive asked the maintenance guy, who doednt know anything. Property Manager simply suggests using a steamer. NOT for this apartment! The materials are cheap & apartment was poorly made. Previous management neglected my needs & treated me like trash. I cant get this damn grout clean & lighter with Zep. I dont understand why its working for everyone else but not for me!

Thanks. I dont think the crosswave is designed to clean grouts. A normal mop would clea´ the grout neither. Crosswavr is not more than an electric mop which can mop and vacuum at the same time and clean carpets

Thank you for the tips! Bissell just camr out woth a crosswave+steamer and im tempted to try that. The regular crosswave is an amazing alternative to mopping, but does nothing for the grout other than rinse out the dirt once you have manually scrubbed it. It seems to be ok with acid (i use bleach regularly and have had no issues) but cannot tolerate a lot of foam as it will build up in the dirty tank and get to the motor.

You literally said it's Limestone. Ceramic Tiles probably don't have this issue as much. The way I see it is Ceramic is like a Stainless Frying pan while Limestone is like a Cast Iron Skillet. Obviously the Limestone Tiles look incredible, but require special care and perhaps the damaged tiles could be rebuffed by a professional?

Oxiclean is not supposed to be a paste. It should be more liquid to work right. Use oxiclean diluted properly with a small rotating brush attached to a drill and it will work very well

I LOVE my Crosswave. It helps keep the floors clean between deep cleans, picks up pet hair, dirt, and cleans the grooves in the tile with no extra effort. That small dirty water reservoir is great for people with back problems. Nobody with physical ailments wants to lug around anything heavy. Frequent emptying is vastly preferable to handling a heavy vessel.

Does mixing with a alkaline solution cause any toxic fumes? I think the warnings on the acid products say not to mix?

A very unique cleaning video because no one else explains the science and difference behind all these products which, after watching it, also makes you realise just how important it is to understand it! I myself have been looking for an all-purpose cleaning spray that I can use in the kitchen and the bathroom but now I understand just how impractical that is, in fact, potentially damaging to certain surfaces. Bonuswise, I hope I've understood this right and that is I'm assuming some form of acid will be helpful to get rid of rust spots on a bathroom towel radiator? Thank you, very helpful, one of those videos that I will simply remember for the rest of my life!

A big box store installed the carpet in one room of my house. Became very loose in just a year and a half. I don’t remember seeing them use a long stretcher like in the vid, just the knee kicker. Had to restretch myself, as there was only 1 year warranty on installation.🤷‍♂️ That was the first, and only time I’ve ever gotten carpet from the big box stores. Now I stick to my local carpet place that’s been in business for over 70 years.

I've never liked the concept of mops. Only bought one a couple of years ago when a cleaning lady I hired insisted. Seems like it just moves dirty water around. Yuck! I got a Hoover Floormate about 20 years ago. Like the Bissel, It has very small tanks and takes forever to clean my floors. Then I bought a steam mop (with lots of the fabric mops). I found it picked up dirt left over after the Hoover. So, I retired the Hoover. Today, I steam mopped the kitchen. Then, brought the Hoover out of retirement and it picked up even more dirt. While the grout might (?) look a bit better in places, it is still a problem. The carpet upstairs will be professionally cleaned next week and while he is here, I'll ask how expensive it would be to professionally clean the tile on the first floor. In the past, I've tried my tiny steamer, an electric grout brush and brush cleaner. Incredibly time consuming and I didn't really see a real difference.

Thank you 🙏 For those of us who are autistic & struggle with loud noise, this machine is a no go from my autistic perspective & need for quiet machine noise. Think similar to the quiet noise from an electric car motor / engine noise that is waaaaaaay quieter compared to a diesel or petrol combustion motor / engine 🙌👂
