Hey, do you want someone to help you out on some stuff? I’m just really bored this summer, I know a little basic coding and art, and I’m an ok animator. Not asking for money or a job or anything, just help you out a little cause what you’re doing is super cool and I’m super bored

I really enjoyed the way you explained and showed all the details of this process. Even though it was a project of 1 week, I can see the effort and intelligence you put into organizing, preparing the store pages, videos, game stats details etc. You're awesome and I really hope you continue pushing forward, you're going to receive greater results than we can now imagine 👏🏻

Don't know if you've heard this suggestion yet, but your "gift shop" idea for the lore would work even better if, after completing a run, you actually have to go through the gift shop and that could be where you upgrade and spend your gold before attempting another run.
@GingerNingerish2 ай бұрын
This is actually such a simple stroke of genius. Idk why I didn't think of that. I was thinking about including it as an actual place, but I couldn't think of anything practical that wouldn't be just faffing about before starting another run. Lore wise, it could be like a token you can spend in some way.

Core mechanics of roguelikes: turn-based grid movement, unidentified items, hunger (or any other time pressure), one screen few-room stages/biomes, simple enough for ASCII visualization. Still nice Zelda clone.

I think that you could add some indicator showing where you are currently aiming. Check how it looks for example in Children of Morta

Yeah that is something that was on the back of my mind. Ill have a look in to that example though thanks!

One of my friends made a game with these same art assets, are you the one who actually made them or did you borrow them?
@GingerNingerish3 ай бұрын
They're royalty free assets from Kenny Assets. I made some additional ones for it also. I typically make my own entirely, but wanted to have fun using an asset pack for a change.
@TryingCode3 ай бұрын
@@GingerNingerish That's cool. Using assets is definitely a good thing to do as long as you don't just outright copy what the other dev made. I don't think I use assets enough.

Hey friend! This is awesome. When you were describing the static attacking and how it just uses the last input direction you used... I was thinking about how valuable a secondary sprite would be for when the player is moving "away from camera" versus towards it. Right now you're always facing camera. But what if moving up the Y axis resulted in a switch to a sprite showing the characters back, and then switches back to the front facing sprite with any downwards Y movement? This would also help the player remember what their last input direction was if they are just standing static and wanting to do the defensive attack.
@GingerNingerish3 ай бұрын
Hey Buddy! Yeah, this is something I thought about since day one. But, due to the constraints of the assets, it is way too much work out of scope. Mainly because there are dozens and dozens of extra sprites to account for since all items of clothes are changeable, it would be a huge undertaking. If i think of a suitable solution I will try to implement it.
@IndeverGames3 ай бұрын
Ah okay! I relate to that... exactly why I've only allowed players to customise skin colour and hair length in Super Mayor... aint no way I'm redoing every single hand-made pixelart animation for every variant of a whole bunch of clothes 🤣@@GingerNingerish

Tbh, I don't know yet. It's very micro and mobile by design. But it will have controller support. So if it gets enough demand, it's possible to put it on steam and take out some of the mobile elements.
