This is amazing to watch - made even more amazing with the handler being all of 8 but clearly in control. I literally just started training via private lessons in American Schutzhund with my GSD who is just over age 1. I’ve never done this before and as I found out, it’s a whole different ballgame than any other type of training. My dog is capable. It’s me who keeps making mistakes. He is smart- re learned his basic commands for down/sit/ come in German in less than a day. I was using a cheat sheet after he already knew what they meant! I am making a mistake with Fuus without realizing I am until my amazingly patient trainer corrects me. I taught my dog heel as a small pup and prefer him while heeling on a walk to have his nose parallel to my waist. Here, his neck has to be parallel to my waist in order to allow him to look up at me. Paw position is not a problem. I for some reason guide his head towards my right with my hand by accident. This means he has to move away from me to turn and look up. I feel pretty dumb! Our trainer tells me to correct where my hand is and he once again falls into line right next to me, looking upward as the dog in the video. I am not used to feeling so inexperienced regarding dogs- but I certainly do at the moment. Anyway thanks for your video/ it if fantastic!! We have our very first bite work lessons Saturday. Wish us luck! I aspire to half as good at this as your amazing little girl! My own daughter just completed classes to become a certified obedience trainer- she’s 23. My Dad, a Veterinarian, has always loved GSD’s - his favorite breed so I grew up with the breed. I have been a Vet tech for over 20 years. I thought I was a knowledgeable experienced dog owner. Then got my current (and very first GSD). He kept me on my toes! I am now a more experienced dog owner as he has taught me more than I’ve taught him. But they always do.. the spurt dog world is new to both of us. If he is not successful it will be only because I have done something wrong. I don’t want to let him down- he can do it. He is pictured at age 6 mos in my profile pic. WGWL.
