Amazingly, they were both fine, and went on to finish this match. The two handguards colliding is like punching a brick wall, hurts like hell, but nothing was broken and so they carried on after some analgesic spray.

The Fencing Federation of Georgia has issued a statement, saying that a large part of the public believes that Sandro Bazadze was likely unfairly treated by the referees at the Paris Olympics. ✅ "This opinion is shared by the federation as well as anyone knowledgeable in fencing, and we would like to point out that not only was the decisive point unfairly awarded to the opponent, but also five strikes made by Sandro were counted for the opponent. Accordingly, the federation has prepared a complaint letter, which has been sent to the President of the Referees' Commission of the International Fencing Federation. The letter details all the circumstances that suggest a likely injustice against Sandro Bazadze," the statement reads.

Corruption at its finest, this was a travesty. The win should have been Gkountouras. Several points not awarded.

When i was young and was sable fencer, there was so many wires, so many bugs, I'm proud what technology especially on big tournaments allowed to get rid of this wires and more focus on a battle for competitors.

I believe that it's Ferjani's because when slowed down it looks like Ziad is making two cuts in his flunge which could be seen as attack know since Ferjani stepped away from the first one.
