I think my dog has the same problem but she is just 8! They did X ray, 2 MRI as well, on the first her brain was totally different (the two sides) and 1,5days after on the 2nd MRI the two sides of the brain was almost normal! They still don’t know what’s the problem, but it’s killing me it’s so painful to see her like this! It started since a month! But the first time she almost died she was soooo down. Got infusion for 5days. Then for 2 weeks she was totally fine and now she started to feel bad again.

My chi gets a episode here and there she's about 8 or 9 had one yesterday I think it's food that causes it on her end when she doesn't get to eating good or I give her extra scraps she's a very picky eater and won't eat hard dog food very often but it's very depressing and a reminder that when they do get to feeling better to take extra good care of them and keep them healthy to try and keep from these episodes from happening to them thankfully she recovers very quickly from these it would be her second one she ever had and felt better by the morning 85% back

Thank you for sharing these videos of your beautiful Zoey girl. Today I came home from work to my precious completely healthy 12 year old Chinese crested boy with these symptoms. The involuntary eye movement and huge pupils scared the heck out of me. Assuming he had a stroke, I raced him to the emergency veterinary hospital. His physical and blood labs were normal. No inner ear infection. They said it was this idiopathic vestibular syndrome or a brain tumor. Sent home with anti nausea meds.

My miniature poodle started these imbalance symptoms at age 2 years 3 months and had 10 incidents over the next 2 years, the first 9 only lasting a few minutes to maybe 10 minutes of imbalance following by up to 15 minutes to a couple hours of resting after each time and all 9 incidents happened when suddenly jumping off a couch to run excitedly to the door or to greet a family member coming into the house. But it took the 10th incident which happened while swimming in the water after an hour of play on the beach to get her diagnosed by the Vet College at University of Saskatchewan on August 6, 2021 for me to further research vestibular disease intensively and for me to put together that prior to her first incident in Sept of 2019 that she had had one external ear infection treated by drops inside that one ear. I had not known that poodles in particular grow hair inside their ear canal and had not been pulling it out and cleaning her ears regularly up to that time. I am now researching that this problem is now an inner ear issue that likely began with that first ear infection over 2 years ago and likely spread to her middle ear and has never been fully resolved and is likely from getting water into her ears during a bath or a swim previous to all 10 attacks. I will keep posted as I intend on asking for up to a 2 month course of antibiotics to clinically treat it as a middle ear inflammation. CT scans and a team at U. of S. was quoted at $3000 to $4000 to definitively diagnose it as a middle ear issue and I am more willing to try the antibiotic without all that expense. How many other dogs out there could be experiencing this imbalance from an ear infection/inflammation? A human with a middle ear infection will experience the same symptoms.
@belenhernandez43672 жыл бұрын
i really think that’s where my dog is, she is having an episode right now, although i dont think it is a stroke, i think its vestibular disease because she is going and has had an ear infection before, chronic, she is also deaf which i think is from the ear infection (got misdiagnosed for nothing) the first time and her symptoms were off balance walking and ear itching.

Andy, I'd like to thank you for posting this video as it shows perfectly the signs we saw in our almost 15yo large dog. His symptoms began suddenly yesterday and we thought he was having a stroke (head tilt, inability to walk, eye darting, drooling) but the vet diagnosed vestibular disease. Your video was found by my 17yp son last night and comforted him to see another dog that recovered so I appreciate you doing this. For others reference, our dog is on prednisone (steroids), anti-nausea medicine, and motion sickness medicine that the vet had us purchase over the counter at the pharmacy. I'm sorry you later lost Zoey but know her video is still helping others. We also found this video helpful, although it is a vet and has no footage of the dog. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d-Chab1k0tapeIE.html

@@guhgfdyg2482 The first few days are rough... really rough!They basically need a lot of rest. Try to keep them drinking and eating as regularly as possible. Help them stand up every hour or two just to keep the blood flowing, rotate them from side to side when laying if they can't do it on their own. Mine is 80 lbs so that made it tougher than playing nurse to a little pup. I had to take my dog into the vet once a day to drain his pee because he couldn't go to the bathroom on his own. But he started to come out of it on day 4, standing on his own and going to the bathroom again, then he got a little better every day after. Like Alexa said, after about 7 days he was back to normal. My border collie of 14 yrs suddenly displayed all of these same symptoms and I was sure she was having a stroke. I called the vet immediately and they assured me it was ok. It was terrifying for me. The eye wobble started a day later. She started getting better just like they say within 48 hrs. She’s mostly fine now after a few weeks with mild balance issues and panting.
