Great machine. We had one in our powerlifting gym in the late 90s when they were new. I did them 3-4 times per week 2 heavy and 2 very light for back health. If I tweaked my back deadlifting a light session on this machine would usually fix it!

Is this something that would be helpful for people with hyper mobility in their wrists? I injure my wrists constantly opening doors just from the push, so im afraid to start lifting.

Might talk to doctor about, but SHOULD help. They're cheap, so worth a try with small amount of weight.

For me, titan fitness tends to hit that sweet spot between "will not explode mid set and impale my intestines" and "forgoing parenthood because I spent $15,000 on fitness equipment and told myself I was investing in my health"

Wow. This entire time, me trying to convince myself that I just couldn't hold the weight because my grip would give out.. tried it with the straps, easy peasy.. 🤦🏻♀️ I have small hands, and I can't do a hook grip to save my life!! I hope I never find myself hanging off a cliff. 😂

Just gave some advice to a kid that was not doing preacher curls correctly. Unsolicited, and he was kinda caught off guard. After talking to him some more, learned he had only been working out for 6-8 months. All I did was show him how to isolate his biceps and go super slow on the negative to build up the muscle closest to his elbow. He thanked me afterward, and now I have another new gym friend. He left his ego at the door and ended up learning something new because of it.

That's excellent - glad he listened. I almost wonder, because the younger generation is so starved for human interaction, they might actually be more receptive to it.
@bkelsey66922 күн бұрын
@@BarbellLogicthat’s what I’m thinking. They get frazzled at first, because they’re not used to random people coming up to them. When I asked him, he was actually thinking about if he wanted to listen to my advice. Like an audible “hmmmm”. When I told him it’ll take 2 seconds to demonstrate and it’ll help him get more atrophy in his biceps, he was more keen. But it was a very genuine gym interaction and gave me a little more hope in humanity.

I started with the empty bar but 2 x 5kg plates for the deadlift. If you make a mistake when starting better to do so with a light weight.

What about breathing through pursed lips/hissing on the exertion phase to relieve too much IAP and mitigate a possible hernia/aneurysm?
@BarbellLogic9 күн бұрын
That's okay. We recommend valsalva for most. Some people do, especially on the press, have trouble passing out, so definitely letting the air out is good for that .Valsalva is not going to cause hernia, though.

I’ve always avoided using straps because I wanted to work on grip strength. Now that I’m 65 I found out the reason for the extreme pain in my thumbs is due to arthritis (diagnosed by hand specialist- I was hoping it was something more treatable). The doctor says I need to use straps or whatever can allow me to minimize the use of my thumbs in pulling type exercises. This change is working wonders! But now that I’m doing lighter weights and more reps (due to age) I’m a little self conscious of using straps for relatively light weights. Oh well, getting old sucks but at least I can keep lifting.

Allright. The next leg day, I'm bringing my laptop to the basement so I can watch and rewatch this until my apparently dumb ass can finally figure it out. (And they let me be an appellate criminal defense attorney! Did great in law school! And .... i can't get _straps_ on well enough to use them to take my max above my grip limitation)

I was on a treadmill. Once I finished I felt a bit woozy and i threw up. Then I realized this is serious. I decided to drive to the clinic as it started to pain. Thankfully I made it. The clinic did an ecg and confirmed variations in my Ecg. They gave me aspirin and nitroglycerin and called the ambulance to take me to te nearest hospital. In the hospital, while waiting for the surgeon, I was adamant not to put a stent. But on the xray it showed a100% block on the LAD. I had no choice. One stent and post operation, i was weak it my blood pressure was taking time to come back up to normal levels. I got out after 3 days. That was 1.5 years ago. Still cannot fathom how it happened to me. Still in denial at times. All my blood work was fine. The mistake I made was I did not go for a heart stress check. Anyway, this is what is destined and there may be good in it, in Sha Allah ( God Willing) and Al hamdu liLlah (praise to The Almighty) Feels good to read the comments here. Now I realise there are many who went through the same and are fighting through it. May Allah make all of us stronger, our hearts better than ever, protect our arteries and bless human kind with a cure to fix scarred hearts and damaged heart muscles.

Thanks. I'm trying to do dead hangs quite often for my back and neck issues and it's helping except that my grip won't let me hold the bar more than a minute and a half. I'm hoping I can hang for 4 or 5 minutes to really do some good work on my spine.

For anyone watching this, do this or use something else like a bench or hyper extension until you can afford to get it. My lower back went and I know why and it was the most painful i have experienced. This was because the glutes were weak. Your glutes plays a huge role for your hip flexors, and everything else, plus there's a muscle that connections to your hips and up to the middle of your back. It runs through the glutes, and so when that tightens due to not exercising it, due to sitting a lot, it gets smaller and so it puts pressure on your spine and your hips, and it only takes on mistake on a deadlift, a pendley row due sitting a lot at your desk and lack of stretching, excercises. It snaps, and you feel pain in lower back, glutes, middle lower of glutes so you can't even sit down and walk. Now you know why old people who walk slow not because they are old but due to lack of care of their body, muscles etc. I healed through lots of stretching daily and using this machine. Doctors said I needed surgery, all sorts but I refused. I am now recovered, strong doing dead lifts, pendley rows they said I'd never be able to do again! You got this machine in gym..use it often!
