A question on the amount of Kreinik for the tail. The vidio suggests 15 to 20 strands. I have looked at pictures of the commercial flies for sale and they clearly have more than that. Just a guess but the pictures would suggest twice that amount. 20 strands looks very sparse. Any opinions or advice in this area would be appreciated. Thanks

Do you only tie it in white? Have you experimented with other colors like chartreuse?

I tie mine where hackle comes out to hook point after I trim it. Very deadly for me and I’m using a spinning reel with no other weight. Casts well and trout will come up from out of site to nail it. So much fun.

Bug re-hab, yea, lol. A good friend now deceased said "why do you mess with your lures?" I replied because its more to the fishe's liking. Anyway fished the Potomac for yrs. and do REALLY dig the selection but i am a mouse man (lol) 3 different sizes so the story goes once say 35 yrs. ago waded behind and island and tossed the rodent in, missed the water but hit the steep bank with said overhead foliage...that fish vaulted out of the water onto the bank around 20 inches up and MISSED it! I was kindof shocked but totally exhilerated NOT to see that fish again....another good one is if you have A POPPER WITH TEETH HOLES IN IT....lol
Way cool. I like the line wiggle technique once the cast is made. I bet that really does drive 'em crazy and trigger aggressive takes. Nice vid. Love the "bird's eye view!

After watching this a few times it occurred to me that the sounds of the boat and the oars make picked up by your Go Pro are probably not that far off from what fish can hear or at least sense. That also leads me to believe that sound isn't as bad as we are lead to believe when it comes to fish.

Question. When you glue down the side tabs... that section is now rigid. Is it supposed to be that way. The end of the tail still moves ok. Just curious as this is the first one I’ve tried to tie. I’m at the part now where I have to trim it down to a square.

I live near Chuck and have had the pleasure of speaking to him a number of times and to say that he is a fount of knowledge when it comes to fishing is truly an understatement. He has probably forgotten more about fishing than I will ever know.
