I did heavy back squats and front squats for years for powerlifting, oly lifting and strongman. I have found heavy, high intensity KB front squats the best of all and extremely difficult!

i think the more you lower the bar, and extend your legs straighter, so you are more horizontal, the harder it becomes

1. Is it necessary to start out from a lower box and progress higher? 2. Can I do this cold or do I always need to warm up first?
@jacquelinetorrie4602 ай бұрын
It depends on your strength, flexibility, and balance. Try it without weight and if you feel unstable, go lower with the box height. I would suggest warming up especially with your balance. Holding some yoga poses that require one leg balance and movement, like airplane pose to warrior 3 pose, is a good warm up. I do this exercise a lot (why I found this video!) and it is scary if you are wobbling that high off the ground with weights, so you want to be really confident in your balance.

Should consider cornering the box. Meaning, step up on the corner. Allows you to keep your torso more upright on each rep. Saves your lower back a ton.

@BundasaurusPecs But stability helps engage way more muscle. And using less weight doesn't help strength gains. Not that it's a bad exercise, there are just better ones
