It looks much nicer than it was, well done on that. Just wondering what you did to cover the new fire regulations as it still looks to be open plan meaning people in the bedrooms have to pass through the kitchen/lounge to get out or have you been able to modify it to cover that risk? This area is just a minefield at the moment so would be really interested in how your fire risk assesment mitigated that as there is little clarity on the right approach.
@TractorsandCreamАй бұрын
@@JurassicJungle hi, thanks so much for your comment. It's a great question! When we originally converted the cottage we installed tilt and turn windows which open fully so you can escape through the windows in both the bedrooms, and with the new refurb we've also added the patio doors as another escape route. So when we did our fire risk assessment we knew there were multiple escape routes plus hard wired alarms, fire extinguisher and blanket so hoping to cover all bases! I know it's a total minefield, especially in the glamping world where the ability to have an alternative escape route is tricky and the need to change locks especially with shepherds huts. Hope that helped! Thanks, Vicki

Very informative! Could you please go into more details about OTA. Staying fully booked with you own website only is a great result, i think! How have you reached that? Did you hire a online marketing specialist? How was the proportion of OTA/your website guests changing with time? What was the most and least efficient? Thank you!

Hi! It´s a great channel and very interesting to watch especially for me, as I want to setup a geodome glamping in Spain. I wanted to ask about insulation and climate inside in hot days (which happen all year round in Spain :)) You´ve got not AC. Is this insulation configuration enough for keeping it nice inside? Some manufacturers offer double ply plating with a 10cm of foam insulation in between, some offer double plywood and additional PVC cover with spacers, which adds 10cm of air circulating freely under PVC to prevent heat from going inside the dome. Could you comment of that please, based on your experience.
@TractorsandCreamАй бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment! Oh wow that sounds really exciting. So in England it doesn't really ever get too hot and we find that guests tend to be outside in the daytime and we have created outdoor areas that encourage them to be outside during the day. I would say that in Spain you would need an AC or something that can give you heating and cooling. The insulation we have is enough for our usage in England and only during the summer months but if you wanted to offer glamping in the winter or get extreme heat then I think you would need a higher level of insulation. That said, the panoramic window of a dome is one of the best features and that doesn't have any insulation on it so there will be parts where you will lose the benefit. Are you going to build the domes yourself or go to a manufacturer? Thanks, Vicki
@lionelll777Ай бұрын
@@TractorsandCream Actually, I haven´t decided so far about geodomes, becasue there is another concept: tiny houses. They are more compact and easier to install and they dont require any construction licnese and bureaucracy can last for ages! After all, everything depends on the plot Im going to buy: with a far reaching view a geodome with its wide window is a top choice. But with a more modest setting a tiny house will do. Of course I will assemble it myself but I wont design and manufacture it. I´ve got a list of around 10 manufacturers to study across Europe offering different levels of kits, from just triangles included up to multilayered systems. I would probably go with a dome of around 7+m in diameter to be able to fit a bathroom (just as you did in your last build) but also a kitchenette! With a posibility to install an attic bed on top of all this just under the roof :))))
@TractorsandCreamАй бұрын
@@lionelll777 that sounds perfect! There are some incredible tiny home designs out there now. Have you watched our glamping show America's video? They had some amazing tiny homes. Would love to know what you end up building. Are you looking for land now?
@lionelll777Ай бұрын
@@TractorsandCream Of course I watched it, I´ve got lots on information out of it! There are a several tiny houses manufacturers in Europe, too. I will be looking for land in late 2024, but before I have to collect all the information about those 2 options (tiny houses and domes) and all the stuff around them (solar, water (which is a big pain in Spain), sewage, local regulations etc etc). And keeping all that in mind look for the plot to have the vision of how to split up my tight budget between the plot, housing and infrastructure :) So, I´ve started collecting info well in advance.
