I'd just boil the salt in a cup of Ro and then pour it into the bucket. That co2 method is speculative, co2 has to dissolve in the water , prob use sodium bicarbonate and check ph , Tiny bubbler isnt much circulation , use a cheap pump. Finally , if the tds is right then the salt mix may be fine, they might have added lime to bring up ph and it re-crystalized.

If you watch a lot of her stuff, she makes a lot of beginner mistakes. It made her seem relatable since I’m brand new to the hobby. In hindsight though, why should I be taking advice from people making the same mistakes I am in my third month of fishkeeping?

I just got into the hobby a couple months ago and keeping Caridina shrimp seems like a huge pain in the butt. I’m still learning how to properly manage water parameters. My red cherries are doing okay though. Started with 9 and only lost 2 in the first week. One due to predation and one to premature molting. Nobody told me female guppies could be so mean.

The only downside is when you have loads of tanks. I do the drip method myself and I have to do water changes 3x a week a different tank each time because mine are only 10 litre tanks and I take 1 liter out and putting 1 liter back in takes about 2 to 3 hours 😂

Hey I just got my routine to make it a little easier for the few things that need to be taken out of the Shrimp tanks and I have been enjoying everything but that removal intake sponges , sponge filters and a big thanks for the floating plants and not using a net . 1) clean white bucket 2) plan on the Shrimps to make it to the bucket so instead of squeezing my sponge into bucket # 1 just carefully have bucket # 2 and then I can get everything cleaned up and then pour that stinky water through net #1 and hopefully it's empty and if not let them know that I squeezed the best I could whle my routine is a little better than what I was doing before , If you have any Other tips you might make it a future video but of course i will check your playlist. Last thing I had my first tragic loss from usin to course of sponge and I noticed that one of my little ones was sadly dead from getting entangled. Something that I have never heard of but it's totally understandable now .🫡

you probably need to get into autistic detail, you have some "good enough" practices. the measurement also says to use 3 grams to 5 gallons. maybe if you made a genuine attempt you might learn from your results. Have you tried letting that water age and then test it to see where the ph ends up? i stopped having issues when i began aging my water for like a week before using it. i have a lot of residue from the salts also .
@Drakal125 күн бұрын
Dennerli don't need a pH of 8.5 Just use the Dennerle Sulawesi salt with RO water, AIM for 320 to 330 conductivity, don't worry about the pH... mine is not even 7.5 The dennerle salt disolves with just a little circulation pump at 29°C in an hour, the "sulawesi mineral" brand is overhyped (for denerlii, other species might need it) and a pain to use... I use this salt, started with 10 shrimps, have about 100 now, i do 50% water changes they are perfectly fine, no need to drip water change 10% like i saw here and there, my colony is about 2yo now They are not that fragile tbh, 28-29°C, Dennerle salt with RO watrer, decent aeration... and you are good to go EDIT : i also have crabs from Lake Towuti, they are doing great with this Dennerle salt too, anything from Lake Towuti i feel like they do not need that high of a pH, others Sulawesi's lakes do

put a bit of salt in a siringe , fill the siringe halfway with water , put your thumb firmly on the opening of the siringe , pull and let loose this will create a vacuum that makes very small particles out of it. but i think it would take ages when u have a big load of salt to disolve, its more for smaller 30l cubes

@@BobMossNanoTanks I suspect that folks who are interested in aquatic plants might have a few things growing around the yard and / or house. In SAD news, the raccoons managed to mush the netting down on my patio tub last night and trash my waterlily and experiment with aquaponic cherry tomatoes. Doesn't look like they got through the net, so I hope the goldfish are ok, and managed to get to their cave. Wow, that turned into a ramble. Have a good one!

@@BobMossNanoTanks I only use F because so much of the info available is given that way, to be honest. If more people on forums and YT used C, I would be a lot happier. The one situation I've seen someone choose F over C for a good reason was setting their hot tub temperature. In the ranges you want to set a hot tub, a single degree F is less of a change than a single degree C, so choosing to use F gives you finer control.

Ive talked to you on social media before so i know we live in the same area. Our water is really hard with high pH already….why go through all this just to get back to the same parameters as before using ro water?? Lol (I admittedly dont know what our tds is out of the tap). Have you tried adding a smaller dose of the salts to tap or a combo of tap/ro to get the pH you’re after?
@Jessica_Crease8713 күн бұрын
My shrimp die everytime i do a water change😢 im not sure what i do wrong. I condition the water and make sure its the same temperature. I only take out a gallon to 2 gallons and they always die right after i add back the water😢
@BobMossNanoTanks3 күн бұрын
I would guess it's the pH based on this extra knowledge. Are you leaving the water out overnight? It comes out of the tap around a degree higher pH than it will settle to overnight.
@Jessica_Crease8713 күн бұрын
Is RO water just tap water treated?
@BobMossNanoTanks3 күн бұрын
It's tap water stripped of all minerals. My tap comes out at around 150TDS but an RO unit lowers that to 0TDS, allowing me to remineralize to whatever parameters I want.

I would try just removing water, don't touch the substrate. And then add the new water back in as slowly as you can manage, dripping will eliminate any possibility of shock. Your new water parameters are probably not exactly matching the current tank parameters if I had to guess.

Correction, should be Alxyon Matano / Alxyon Towuti. It is a liquid mineralizer.
@jasonsaw910713 күн бұрын
Used should try Alyxon Matano or Alyxon Towuti mineralizer for Sulawesi Shrimp. The salt will dissolved in approx 1-2hrs with CO2 soda stream water + air pump/power head to circulate the water. Should get a PH 8.0-8.5. I gave up on Salty Shrimp 8.5, never get the correct PH after trying so many methods.
@sulawesi-steve14 күн бұрын
I use lake tanganyika buffer (9.0 -9.4). Put that in first, then the 8.5. Leave that for 24 hours with an airstone then add to the tank. It still goes in the tank milky and takes a day or so to settle completely. Got this tip from @RWAquariumPages an seems to work for me.
