Thank you, so you really do need to bring the jaw slightly forward, to get that middle register, is it that some notes are easier to get than others?😊
@gwenkelso-fundamentallyflu93864 күн бұрын
Yes, exactly that! And the more skilled you are, the more you notice this. Every different instrument has its own quirks. It's about refining YOUR playing to YOUR instrument. Good luck!

Thank you, again! I'm starting this register! It should be fun! When I sang, breath control became automatic! There are similarities with the flute but the connection to the brain developed as a singer are different as I get mouth and fingers to work! It's truly fascinating! 😊

Thank you! I have a bad hip so sitting now is a must! I didnt have to worry much about it but now i have to sit most of the time. Anyway, The 45% angle is a great tip! I had been sitting straight toward the front of the seat as i did during choral rehearsals. The little turn is really quite comfortable!

Yes it makes a big difference. If you can, get up and move around periodically during a long practice session.

I always liked this little joke about tuning! Whats the definition of a Minor 2nd? Two oboes playing in unison! In my younger days, i tuned pipe organs! Imagine trying to tune 2000 flutes on one day! I enjoy the flute as far as tuning! All the sma principles as the organ pipes in one tube!

Hi there! I was looking online to get one of these. It looks kinda interesting. Its ab9ut 40 USD when you figure in shipping. Do the fans actually correspond to the proper directions for air flow on the flute! In other words, for example, if i get used to making the lower fan spin, will that actually help with low notes. Is it just a gimm8ck or does it really apply with playing. Also, im a coin guy. I write for a coin related magazine here in the US. I have many 5 pence coins. If i do decide to get one of these based upon your thoughts, I'll use a 5 pence piece in your honor! Thank You!
@gwenkelso-fundamentallyflu93863 ай бұрын
Well… yes …pretty much. The angle of air will help with corresponding registers. What the pneumo pro is great at though is combining this with air speed. Working out how fast the fans spin. I use it to make sure that air still works through fast tongued passages too. It is expensive, as a teacher invaluable. I would really recommend it. I suppose if you compare it to the cost of a lesson it’s worth it. My opinion of course.

I have a question! So for some reason my flute metal is turning green… we had this problem with my last flute, and its doing it to my new flute. How do i fix it without going to a shop? My flute is paid off and it would cost more to get maintenance on it. Also my sister keeps saying to use clorox wipes on it, is that safe? Please answer ASAP! It would mean alot!
@gwenkelso-fundamentallyflu93865 ай бұрын
I suspect that it is a reaction between a natural chemical from your hands & the silver (or plating) on your flute. It shouldn’t make any difference to the sound. I would avoid using anything on it to treat this. Your local repairer could potentially restore this then you would have to thoroughly remove fingerprints after each playing. I hope this helps. 🤔
@jennaAldc5 ай бұрын
Omg! I didnt know that could happen! But thank you so much! It didnt mess with the sound, but it was just worrying me. And i havent used anything on it. I clean it everyday but since i have class, i cant clean it in class, i have to take it home to do it. Thank you so much!

@zoe_08 - it really depends on your mouth set up & how much time you are giving to this. If you have both top & bottom it can take a bit longer. Without seeing you it’s hard to tell. Keep working on these long notes to strengthen your muscles. Good luck!
