Wo sind sie hin??? Wo sind sie...diese Schauspieler, die Entertainer, die Showmaster, die Meister....??? Es war der Spagat zwischen humorvoller Unterhaltung aber auch ersnthafter, tiefsinniger Melancholie. DANKE an unser damaligen Stars, UNVERGESSEN.HOFFENTLICH;

I attended a two day drum clinic at Cal State Northridge in the late 70s starring Louie Bellson and Billy Cobham. It was really thrilling!! It ended with a big concert featuring the CSUN jazz band along with Billy and Louie, as I remember. Of course both drummers were amazing. I sent a comment to Louie Bellson‘s website when he was still alive and only a few years before he died. In the comment I stated that I really loved the clinic. One of the things he said in response (yes, he actually wrote me back about it!) was, “That clinic with Billy Cobham is still in my heart.”

i saw this movie last (4/20/2024) on the outlaw network. strange to see roy without his trademark sunglasses. yes, it was supposed to be in the old west. lol

Respekt… Bravissimo…. …. das war im wahrsten Sinne Unterhaltung…..im unbekümmerten Sinn. Da konnte man freudig den Abend … meist am Freitag, Samstag Abend … die Tagesmüh , Tagesarbeit dem dargebotenen in der Glotze entgegensehen. Wenn man das im Jahre 2024 sich ansieht was in der Flimmerkiste für sogenannte Unterhaltung den den Zusehern geboten wird , da schüttelt es einem. Gehe ich da richtig mit dem angenommenen, mit dem ausgeführten?

Louie didn't smoke, drink,or do drugs...He wouldn't allow alcohol to be served at his drum clinics....I was fortunate to be called to do a drum battle with him in 1995.........A shining moment for me...I miss this guy....Class all the way..........Ralph Onofrio.

From my "WTH were you thinking Roy" files: In 1965 Roy signed a new recording contract with MGM, valued at $1 million ($11 million in 2023 money). Witnessing Elvis Presley's success as a Hollywood star, Roy's MGM contract provided for production of five movies, with Roy as THE star. The project first called for The Fastest Guitar Alive to be a dramatic Western, but again copying Elvis's successful movie formula, Roy's movie was rewritten as a comedy (as quickly indicated by the lighthearted musical score). While this first film was a severe box office disappointment (we all can SEE why), Roy really liked it.
