Still one of the best and saddest videos of Hurricane Sandy Rockaway Beach. This was my childhood destroyed and no longer. Donald DAvanzo's KZfaq captures the devastation. I left Rockaway in 1972 and after Sandy it's hard to return. The memories are enshrined with some of the lasting remnants captured.

Hi Donald....I sent you a message but didn't hear back. I am interested in licensing your footage for a documentary. Can you let me know if that would be possible? We can compensate you for the permission.

It was at about 1hour to an hour and 3 minutes it looked like something was swimming or running (possibly an animal or creature on the right side of the racquet ball courts)

Our area was NOT hit as hard (South Hempstead) but, we went down to Rockaway to help.

Damn, I ran hundreds, if not thousands of miles on that boardwalk. What a shame. I use to live in those buildings. Now living in the south.

Hi I think my last message might have looked like spam, please see what kinds of things we do at ww. pioneertv. com we are making a documentary about extreme weather and we have been looking for people who have experienced this first hand. Our goal is to raise awareness on the impacts of these occurrences by using videos filmed by those who've seen them close up! If you could email Michaela.Eells @ pioneertv . com Thank you for taking the time to read this I look forward to hearing from you

Hahahaha Between the sand, wind, debris and rain pelting me I was trying my best while walking, running, and turning away from the wind and sand...... I yelled at myself to when I reviewed the video said the same thing... "Dude what the hell are you doing....." then I stopped cause I was yelling at my self lol You don't respect the extreme elements until you experience them first hand..... Thanks for watching!
@BrooklynBaby066611 жыл бұрын
Would have been better footage if he pointed the camera up instead of at the ground for most of the video, caught myself getting angry at him and yelling at my computer..."POINT THE DAMN CAMERA UP" and slow down while panning, made me dizzyyyyy..uugghhh!! On a better note, thanks for the up close shots and risking your life just for documentation of this devastating storm!

Donald, your comments about uptown receiving more aide than downtown are way off base and are completely untrue. The American Red Cross was nowhere to be found uptown,in fact the first place they went was the 95th street parking lot and the C Town shopping center a week after the storm. What did happen was community organization, people uptown did not wait to be helped, they helped themselves. Your misguided comments, they are almost as annoying as your commentary.

Hurricane Irene made us too complacent. Superstorm Sandy was worse than Hurricanes Gloria and Donna combined. If memory serves, had Donna (1960) hit during a normal high tide, damage could have approached that of Sandy, per Army Corps of Engeneers.
@heatherstub6 жыл бұрын
Indeed. We Americans are the worst at forgetting history. In fact, we don't even try to remember it. We try not to even think of it! Very dumb. That's why we're in the mess we are today, and I really hope it doesn't get any worse.
