George Jones was a trainwreck of a man but possibly the greatest country artist of his time. I listened in tears as a child and still listen in tears as a senior citizen. This music was a bridge between my father and I. Dad hated Black Sabbath and I hated Buck Owens but we came together on this song. R.I.P Dad and R.I.P. George.

Anyone else notice George 's tearing up @ 1:12 - 1:38? The man was going through it around this time in his life, the drink was taking him at a more rapid degree. Which played a massive roll in Tammy Wynette filing for divorce for the second time & final time. Goodness gracious, the heartache in this moment not only summoned an intense chill down my spine, but grabbed a hold of me & made SURE I felt just a fraction of what he must've surely felt in this moment, thank you for the experiences I ( & I'm sure countless others) had that no other country singer even came close to giving us, besides of course Hank Williams Sr & just a few others that are in a league of that standing. Rest easy George.

I needed to listen to this song again this morning. A good friend of my wife died two days ago. I sat and listened to this song and Go Rest High On That mountain by Vince Gill. I have sat here and cried for my wife because her best friend is gone and they had not finished what they wanted to do. The songs are so beautiful. You don’t ever know when your last day is going to come. All the Lord ask’s is just always be prepared.

Just a shout out to Uncle Kracker, I am 61 years old and watch this video frequently. You did George proud! Love to hear you sing this way, here I am hoping that you will sing more along this type of country that I grew up on. Your voice speaks to my heart.❤

I have listened to this song so many times. I have but one issue, only 1. Uncle Cracker if you are reading this. Go with this. When that piano comes in, let him rip for another 15 seconds or more. Then take back over. You against that piano. Wow. I can hear it now. Highlight that.
