I am using an app called my pianist. It is really good but I have had problems with volume. On this it’s a bit too loud but often it will go way too quiet for no reason.

Thank you! Oh goodness yes that is very similar. I started end of October 2019…. It’s true that a lot of people seem to stop posting after a few years. I can understand why - I now play in an orchestra and with various other groups, and working on grade 8 pieces that take so long to prepare, so there’s just a lot less time and material to post!

@adultcellolearner4574 At least for me, it has also been a little hard this past year or two of my standards getting exponentially higher because I can make the easier music sound so good. I've been having a hard time recording myself without getting discouraged. But I should follow your lead and work to do it anyway.

It is hard to hear things back and then sound not at all like you think you played them! But it’s also useful because hearing it as it really is allows you to try something different. It’s kind of like feedback. You don’t have to show anyone the recordings!

It’s a wonderful process - do you play with others? It’s very motivating and enjoyable! All the best with your ongoing journey.

Thank you! It varies but on average maybe an hour a day 6 days a week plus sometimes an extra hour or so at weekends. Some weeks it will be as little as 5 hours and some weeks as much as 9 hours.

I am so sorry to hear this, it sounds awful. Whereabouts in the world are you? We don't have anything like that here in the UK - orchestra is back meeting every other week and I wouldn't have a clue whether anyone else had the jab or not. Surely they can't keep the passports going for too much longer - everything has to go back to normal at some point. I really hope things improve for you and your family soon.

@@adultcellolearner4574 I'm in the prison colony - Australia. The passports for uni were dropped - only after the 2nd semester began. My son's graduation is delayed by a year. Most of the societal barriers have been dropped too (although health workers still cannot work and doctors lose their registration for saying anything that is not 'approved'), but society remains divided. Because I was outspoken I am persona non grata. It's okay, I don't have much in common with people who want to push experimental drugs on my children. Perhaps one day we will play again. Sad thing is our son will not be able to travel to the US with us to visit our daughter. But this too shall pass. I was in Scotland last month & loved it! Thank you for your good wishes. 🙂

Thank you! I did practice this one a LOT because I love it so much. I also have a very good teacher who has focused on musicality from day 1 and that has made a huge difference. Don't be down on yourself - the fact that you have a vision of what you want it to sound like and you are impatient to get there is brilliant because it means you will get there! That's the motivation for practising and trying out different techniques etc. I find that recording myself really helps as often I sound very different from how I think I do and the feedback helps me refine. Good luck and keep going it's very early days!
