Hi Jim… just watched this. I am now going to find further videos from you. I think the rear axle is the weakest link for most setups. My LC200 was over by 120 which I have been able to address. I also had my caravan re rated to 4t and this, combined with the Lovells stage 2 got me legal. Anyhow….thanks for the great video which was most informative and enjoyable. I hope you are enjoying your travels in your beautiful Zone.

G'day Jim & Wendy. Thanks for all the work that you put into this and all your videos. They're great watching! Myself and wifey are saving for a Zone in about 18 months time. I'm guessing your previous vans had external audio speakers and by the looks of it, the Zone does not. Question, do you miss the external speakers and do you just use a portable bluetooth (or similar) now?
@mrjimwrongwaywend8 ай бұрын
Yeah we just use a portable speaker Hardly ever used the van speakers on the last van. Don't miss them at all. Thanks for watching

Belated post ….Just back in the West after 4 months traversing the GCR, up to the Cape, touring Qld north of the 26th, and back home down the Birdsville towing our upgraded 4000 ATM 2008 Supreme Territory. Saw a lot of Zone’s so your post was of interest. Coincidentally our pre-departure check weighing would have been about the same time as yours. Feel for you, as we had previously confronted similar issues … back when we discovered that despite our best efforts our much loved near new BT-50 for all its virtues was not going to be up to legally coping with the van, even at its then lesser original ATM when all the essentials and a few creature comforts were loaded. So with what do we now tow it? Having been bitten once by misguiding sales prattle, we paid much closer attention to the maths in achieving a legal outcome. Whilst also a real estate agent, happily I hold a truck license from farming days past which proved to be pivotally important. We now travel and tow now with a F-250 6.7L Super Duty, which is licensed from new as a light truck opening the way to have it licensed at its full load capabilities, thus not restricted to under 4.5T for non truck drivers. However, even with that advantage if you load 400kg (10% of the vans ATM) on to the 250’s tow ball, our weighing showed that with draw system, tools, full engel, canopy, roof rack, second ute spare etc etc we are still close to the rear axle limit. Yes its an expensive step up, but I sleep better! As further consolation, its no go-kart for ride comfort, has unbelievable amounts of power, and most V8 LC folks are scratching their heads when we compare fuel economy. Once you know how the numbers really stack, you cant help but wonder how many caravaners you see are rolling without certainty of third party public liability cover and vehicle/van insurance if the unforeseen happens.

Great video guys , the audio is very quiet tho but the scenery is good 👍, 38 bucks for a little tiny schnitzel 😮 that's robbery , passing through McLaren Vale in SA the other day its just a normal every day town the Cafe there wanted 14 bucks for 1 toasted cheese and ham sandwich that's double the price elsewhere , Aussies ripping Aussies off 😢 now I see why folks go overseas 4 their holidays its better value and a shit load cheaper , but I still want to see Australia first but I always walk back out off the shops and pubs that try too rip me off , I'm happy to support honest businesses but not the greedy ones , I feel sorry 4 the locals paying 4 them ridiculous prices
