Beautiful tone and well played! I have a 1933 257xxx. A great craftsman from Hillsdale, NJ once told me it would be the only sax I would ever need. My late teacher, and friend, also played most of his gigs with a similar Conn, although he would occasionally use one of his Selmers.

It's a great thing. I don't understand why such saxophones are not being produced now. Modern saxophone brands are garbage.

Hi Bob, I’ve been listening to many renditions of the Ricardo and I feel that yours is among the best. We haven’t seen each other in many years and I miss you. Remember when you played at my 60th birthday party. My 80th birthday party is coming up in September.

Interesting rendition - starting right off in the high register. I'm sure Moe wouldn't mind ( nice tone & articulation). I always loved this tune as a kid; still do, and still play it with some regularity along with my own backing tracks in a looper. Isn't it something to remember back to a time when tunes like this were on Pop radio? We've come a long way haven't we? ...DOWN! Oh, well...I'm grateful we had it. Thanks for posting this..

There's something about a good vintage horn like a good vintage wine...that modern horns will never have...trick is ti find one in near mint condition or find some one qualified to restore one to near it's original glory...
@spiketaterman51813 жыл бұрын
I own one...just took a good look after letting it sit in the closet for decades (yes). Retired now, realized that what I always considered a "student" horn is a Martin Committee alto, but the engraving is very light and hard to read. It does say "low pitch" serial 123XXX on the back. I always loved the sound--easy blowing and very sweet, kind of like Paul Desmond. I'm wondering if my horn was re-lacquered?
@matthewblore29683 жыл бұрын
Re-lacquering horns was fairly common back in the day. If the lacquer is 95% complete it's very likely been re-lacquered.
