Amazing dancer! I am glad to have the chance to see stuff that my grandpa was able to witness in the theatre. Lucky guy. No one dances like that anymore. Nureyev started at 17 but surpassed everyone else. Wow! I’ve taken ballet before and It’s not easy even for a younger person to do those jumps !

Ive watched all through this....Paris.... etc but the whole piece leaves out the pinnacle of his excellence - meeting and partnering with Margot Fonteyn. Have i missed something?

It's a lovely film, but it really ignores his conducting career and his 1992 trip to Kazan.

Oh Rudolf nureyev is so missed in every corner of the world. Living in south Africa i would never get to a performance i was content to know that all was well with ballet all over the world with Rudolf 's presence.

When I was at school we had tickets to go to special schools performances (Youth & Music?) at Covent Garden, Saddlers Wells & Wigmore Hall - possibly dress rehearsals? At a packed Covent Garden ballet performance we were told there would be an additional performance at the end by a new member of the company, if we wished to stay on for it. We were in the front row of the circle and we were quite blown away by Rudolph's performance. My memory says, something from the Firebird? Remember, we were seeing principal dancers in proper performances and yet this was something dynamic and special. I haven't found mention of this first English public performance anywhere. This was before the famous gala performance some days later. A wonderful memory.

Winnie Wallace.. An absolute one off, that was Nureyev. This documentary is priceless. We can see the man who gave us more than dance. His story is unique, he overcame so much..Bravo Rudolf, bravo.

So sad that treatment for this vicious virus came too late for Nureyev. Like him I have loved dance since childhood and still dance and create choreographies. He leaves behind his marvellous reputation as a beautiful graceful passionate energetic dancer who is an inspiration. His star still shines.

such a shame that ppl cannot resort to GOD'S DEVINE LAW: "male and female he made them" .. those disobedient pay the price .. including Nureyev .. a most stunning looking, ultimately talented man .. one who sacrificed his immense, God given talent on the altar of sin ........ it still is nearly impossible for me to wrap my mind around this .... this is how absurd and grotesque it is ....

Nureyev was a very private person when it came to his personal life,so what what he did was no one's business of stage, very few people knew him but ignored. His secret side about him to themselves for maybe they had secrets like his ,the early 90s was a frighten year for men+women with aids a disease that was not understood but thought of as contagious, Nureyev had an idea he had it but his partner who was a ballet dancer died a few months when Nureyev found out,but at least he died back in his home land Russia and is not forgotten for being a great ballet dancer of his time, rest in peace Nureyev may God be with with you,god bless you ,rest in peace, amen 🐦💙🌷🌹💐🌼🌸🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌷🌷🌷🌷☀️🌈🌟😘

Rudolph was a beautiful looking man, loved from woman all over the world ,he was a perfectionist and his dancing showed, his secret of homosexuality was kept in the closet ,I saw pictures nof him rehearsing in 9090+he was as focused but kept saying I'm just need a break and saying I'm just tired I'll be fine in a few minutes,he was a proud man and in 91 he died, what he died of so what,he never complained about his sickness through his last stages of living he got a standing ovation, and at least he died in his home land Russia,, Rudolph rest in peace ,also Margot, may God be with you amen, thank you for your beautiful dancing, god bless you amen, 💙🐦🌈😘💟,☀️🌟🌹🌷

In honor of dance: little known dancer in Little Rock, AR could no longer dance - a fellow dancer cared for him in the last years of his life. Sadly there was no other support for him. But 'twas so good of his fellow dancer to care for him. years ago.

Thank you for this beautiful documentary. As an avid balletomane my whole life I loved Nureyev tremendously. I was only 6 years old when he defected. He was bigger than life. Our mother took us to see him perform. They were massive events. I'm so glad he had those last beautiful moments on the Paris Opera stage. On youtube there is a clip of Nureyev and Fonteyn at the jail. The animal magnetism of Nureyev captured on film is beyond incredible and I am so deeply grateful it exists. How else could you describe such overwhelming charisma unless you see it up close for yourself?

I do NOT mind saying, I received a Scholarship into a Classical Ballet School in Golders Green. I soon after, began to suffer with Anorexic symptoms. The ballet-world was not what it seemed at first for Myself! Lots of pressure….I struggled.
