This is an excellent, detailed video. This is an impressive machine! I have a X4 and a D4 at home, and they are great cleaners for homes with pets. I wish Sebo would develop a G4 with two motors and a brush roll shutoff. That would be the perfect vacuum!

I’m relatively educated on vacuums (from my late father who was a vacuum tech) and I’m torn between the K3 and the E3. I live in Germany and have a relatively medium-small house with 95% hardwood downstairs with 3 VERY long area rugs scattered about. Upstairs is wall-to-wall medium pile carpeting where the only hard floor is in the (smallish) bathroom. Any help would be appreciated :)

"Residential" tells you everything you need to know when buying any equipment. About 15 years ago the church bought a commercial 21 inch Toro mower for $800 when comparable mowers were $500. The mower lasted for over a decade on weekly trimming the 6 acre property. The 84 inch National mower did the rest.

@robertknight4672
@robertknight4672 5 ай бұрын
I would guess that it would be a little bit better as this one is propelled by the wheels and I think it only has a small amount of rubber on the augers. I typically use a two-stage machine in just keep a Toro 518 Powerclear around in case my big machine breaks or someone needs to borrow a it since it's relatively easy to put in a car.

I'm a bit reluctant to say "better" -- they are two different types of machines. For many people it might be preferrable as it incorporates transmission driven rear wheels which the Power Clear does not use.

Unfortunately, Honda issued a stop sale on these mowers on June 19th due to a faulty camshaft. I went through two mowers that had the same issue. Finally, I decided to upgrade to the HRC216 commercial as it is not affected by this problem.
@keithpetersen8114
@keithpetersen8114 Жыл бұрын
Yes --- this all took place this year in 2023. It was a silly little problem -- a small metal component which was supposed to freely slide in a guide in the plastic cam would, through a defect, not properly engage. In that case, after initial use, the engine would suffer from a compression lock and become virtually impossible to pull. While highly annoying and a bit of a headache, I cannot really blame Honda -- the engines when originally tested would have run satisfactorily. I don't know from where you had purchased and returned your two HRX mowers; but, any Honda Dealer would have been able to rectify the issue by simply installing a new cam. We've done quite a number of those repairs. Your commercial unit utilizes an entirely different engine (a much better engine, I should add, than is used on the residential models) and the cam issue was not present with that series of engine. Enjoy your commercial Honda -- a bit heavy; but, a great lawnmower!

Hi Chris -- sorry to hear that you are less than 100% satisfied with your Lindhaus upright -- the norm is generally complete satisfaction. Hard to recognize what you mean by "have had trouble with suction". Typically that statement suggests a partial or full clog somewhere in the nozzle, wand or hose. The design of the Lindhaus upright is such that a clog can be readily cleared in a few minutes with no disassembly, per se -- frequently a piece of coat hanger can be used to clear out whatever is clogging the passageway. In such instances, make sure the clog is fully removed -- i.e., a remaining toothpick, etc. will simply cause the passageway to re-clog. I hope this helps.

Another Biased Overview. “We do not advocate bagless machines because of the pollution level as a result.” Now let me straighten something up here. First of all machines Like Dyson and Shark have a complete sealed system and a post motor Hepa filter so they don’t go letting all of the impurities back into the air like you say they do. That only happens when the seals on the machine are worn out and the Hepa filter is expired, or when there’s no Hepa filter in the machine! The same thing could happen with a bagged machine as well if you don’t replace the filters after they expire. Whether a machine is bagged or bagless, if you tune them up every so often, the filtration will remain optimal on both of them. Secondly, The only distinct difference is that the bag acts as an extra layer of filtration, that is very good for people with life threatening allergies. But for people like me who have no allergies and a good healthy strong immune system, bagless is best suited for my needs. Perhaps you should stop being biased towards bagged and start advocating the advantages and disadvantages on both methods!
@keithpetersen8114
@keithpetersen8114 Жыл бұрын
All critical use vacuum cleaners typically utilize a primary particle retention mechanism of some sort -- usually a bag. The use of properly engineered bags results in a considerably cleaner internal and, ultimately, external environment. They also contribute to continued airflow as the bag material when properly engineered retains large quantities of particulate but continues to allow for optimal airflow. Of course, bagless machines necessitate a dirty -- let's say filthy -- emptying process. A properly engineered bag system is quite sanitary to remove and replace. I'm glad you're immune system works well; but, a bag is an advantage -- i.e., not a disadvantage, for everyone. It should also be of interest that, when Hoover started promoting bagless vacuums several decades ago, one of the Hoover executives publicly remarked at that time that, from a cost perspective alone, the use of bags greatly reduces the need to replace the more costly filters. The most critical need is for total, 100% sealed chambers, passageways, etc. in the vacuum proper. This is available on well-engineered vacuums and simply not available on the ordinary machines such as you have referenced. In addition, most filters referred to as "Hepa" simply do not meet certified Hepa standards. They do not themselves have sealed construction; nor, will they properly retain the critical micron sizes that a certified Hepa will retain. Lastly, they will typically "dump" -- which means that, after an aggregate of particles they are prone to suddenly releasing/dumping a quantity back into the airstream. I hope this additional information helps on this subject.
@zmanifest
@zmanifest Жыл бұрын
@@keithpetersen8114 Properly engineered bags? You mean the electrostatic woven ones? The airflow will reduce overtime if the bag is not changed regardless of what material it is made from. I know that by experience. Bagless machines are not that messy unless of course you cavalierly empty the bin, plus maintaining a bagless machine is nothing compared to handling 4 tons of gross garbage. Dealing with gross garbage is much more of a filthy unhealthy processing job than maintaining a bagless machine will ever be. A bag may be an advantage to people with life threatening allergies, but it is a disadvantage to me. Personally I would prefer not to spend money on vacuum bags, unless of course I was cleaning up toxic materials that I didn’t want to get into a dirt bin. The filters on a Dyson cost $14.90 and on a shark they cost $13.29 and the filters are washable, so they don’t need to be replaced every time they get used unlike vacuum bags. The bags and filters for that Sebo cannot be washed so they will need to be replaced more often. The whole service box of bags and filters cost $69.99. Thats means I am spending $70 per maintenance. That is quite excessive. I would personally prefer to save the money on a bagless machine with washable reusable filters. But if I was doing renovation work and there was a lot of toxic material to clean up. I would be willing to spend money for that on a bagged vacuum. I only use a bagged machine for legitimate purposes. I hope that clears things up.

@keithpetersen8114
@keithpetersen8114 Жыл бұрын
If the unit has poor "suction" there may be at least a partial blockage somewhere (I doubt the filters are the issue as you would see the primary filter covered in dirt). Start by testing the suction at the end of the hose. If it is poor -- look for a blockage in the hose (the hose will remove from the top of the vacuum by means of a release lock). If it is good; then, attach the wand and check suction again -- this time at the end of the wand. If the hose is clear, poor suction at the wand would mean a blockage in the wand. If the wand is clear of debris, turn the vacuum over and (with it unplugged) start investigating at the vacuum intake located behind the revolving brush. There is a little trapdoor there to aid in clearing a clog -- a section of coat hanger with a slight "hook" formed at one end can be helpful in locating and removing a clog. The intake area is the most likely place for a clog .... I hope this helps.

You don't mention a model and, while you don't mention the manufacturer, I suppose you have a Lindhaus. I'm surmising that your issue is that the revolving brush is not revolving. Be aware that some Lindhaus uprights have a 3-position switch that enables the revolving brush assembly to be switched off while allowing the main vacuum motor to continue to operate. Also, while rare, the gear on the motor spindle can be worn which would prevent the belt from being activated. Without more information than you've given, its difficult to suggest anything further. Today is 12/31/22 and the vacuum tech has left for the holiday weekend. If you wish you can call us at 908-232-5723 when we re-open on Tuesday and ask for Stan.

It is very deceptive marketing for Toro to claim they have eliminated the shear bolts. At 6:02 in your video, you can see the shiny silver shear bolt head of one of the 2 shear bolts that connect the auger to the auger shaft. Yes, they do not have an auger gear box shear bolt any longer, but those rarely break was my experience with my old track honda 928, just once in 10 years living at 9400 ft in Colorado. However, replacing the auger shaft shear bolts was an almost daily occurrence for me with the 250'+ snowfall I had to clear. You should have explained this in this video so people understand that when the machine bogs down in heavy snow and is poorly shooting snow out the shoot, that would be the first thing to check and to make sure you have the bolts and the tools you will need in the middle of a big storm. Even in page 27, in the troubleshooting section of the Toro Operator Manual for my 2000 824 PowerMax OE, they never mention a broken auger shaft shear bolt as the reason the machine is shooting snow poorly. And good luck trying to buy those bolts locally anywhere near where I live. I suspect this will be a pain for others as it has been for me and most people will just go buy grade 8 bolts at the hardware store instead of waiting for Toro to send them and ultimately damage will happen to the augers, shaft and the gearbox. People need to understand these will break and Toro needs to communicate this information as well as make sure these bolts are easy to find.

Then please explain how I am now breaking these auger shear bolts at a rate of one every hour? I went through 4 of them yesterday clearing heavy snow, like Toro claims this machine is capable of doing. No large rocks or other obstacles, just gravel/road based 80 yard long sloped driveway like they say the machine if good for. I made a trip to Ace hardware and found grade "5" 1 1/2" by 1/4" bolts for auger shear bolts for $.85 each and wish I had bought more for the 12" of snow predicted for this Sunday. I am going to write an email to Toro to let them know they are not being honest with their marketing. And I am going to rebuild the carb on my old Ariens 926LE as this newToro 828 OE is not doing very well for my needs.
