이 노래와 얽힌 비화가 하나 있는데 '사랑한 후에' 를 부르게 된 계기는 한국 배우들과 친분이 있어서였음. 작사가 유유진씨가, '(여명씨가) 한국을 너무 사랑하니까 이 노래를 잘 할 수 있게, 부드럽게 부를 수 있도록 단어와 글자들로만 조합을 해서 가사를 썼다.'고 김현정씨 라이브 방송에서 밝혔는데, 훗날 여명이 너무 고마운 마음에 '곡 작업 할 때 무조건 이 작사가로 해달라' 라고 말했고, 한국어로 부른 곡들 중 '선물' 을 제외하고 모두 유유진 작사가가 담당했음. 2000년 개봉한 아나키스트 엔딩크레딧에 나온 노래인 '오늘이 마지막이기를' 은 여명이 노개런티로 참여함.

Perfection

A hard movie to see, emotionally. A stunning movie, and a stunning scene. DeNiro and Miller were wonderful in it, but I give Penny Marshall as much credit. I've always considered this scene to be the saddest in the history of film. Despite what artistic licenses the screenplay writer (Steven Zaillian) and director (Penny Marshall) took here, it isn't much of a leap to think that Leonard must've struggled with the life he lost, loves unfulfilled, and the realization as he regressed back into darkness that he would have to go through those losses a second time. It must have been emotionally exhausting for the actors and those present when this scene was done. This remains my single favorite motion picture, although I'm not sure exactly why. Probably because I was unaware of the story when I viewed it for the first time. I've seen it a dozen times, and still breakdown at this scene, and am left with a profound sadness at the end. Awakenings has been somewhat forgotten as years go past, which I find odd for something that gained a nomination for Best Picture. It sniffed BluRay, but it's been years since you could get a copy on BluRay, it's been out of print since it's first run. I'd love to see this come out on 4K BluRay, with an additional Special Features disc.

Anybody else get the melancholy feeling that Nathan is actually Joe Turner and this is what Joe Turner became after the end of Three Days of the Condor? And when he’s looking and listening to Tom, he’s looking at himself and realizing he’s become Higgins? Because when you look at this exchange from that point of view, the ending of Three Days-the shot of Turner looking back-becomes more poignant. So does the ending in Spy Game, as Nathan puts on his sunglasses as his face displays the regret he feels.

Really need a sequel. Need to know what happened to Nathan. Did he immediately flee? Did he go to the press? Did he get arrested? What he did in the end was admirable, but could have legit started world war 3.

Mind this very well , people never do friendships with enemies , alright , a person is made an enemy to behave like a deadly beast , alright , so as to test them , and friendships are done only to survive , so it is the wish of the people what do they really want , alright , there will never be a peaceful situation will come if anyone plugs in nasty verbiages against anyone after that person ,or that country , so its better to decide what people really want in this life .

Randy Newman wrote the perfect piece for this scene. This scene crushes me every time.

Great dialogue, realistic. No CGI or silly, unbelievable characters. Also the many constraints of government and intelligence are given a good and fair look in this film. No obvious good guy vs bad guy here; just some excellent intelligence officers trying to do their jobs well and as fairly as possible, given the many constraints.

What makes this scene even more heartbreaking is the fact that at least some of the patients realise that a similar fate awaits them with time. Maybe day. Maybe weeks, but certainly not months.
