Great performance of one of TWENTY great "tunes" from Andrea a Chenier. The opera that the snobbish opera critics dislike intensely . You see the uneducated ,unwashed general public love Chenier . The singers love it. Puccini was mightily impressed when seeing an early performance in 1896 . So much so that He composed TOSCA in a similar vein . Especially the Gerard -Madelaine confrontation . With the Scarpia _tosca blow up.. We just saw Enkhbat as Gerard at Covent Garden. In a stellar performance from the whole cast. This is the opera I would encourage to see first time visit to the opera.

Great Voice, if relax and softer will be better. Close your eyes and listen to yourself and you will find the difference.

This vocal technique is odd to me. It's as if the mezzo cancelled at the last minute and the soprano stepped in to sing this. This is a hard pass from me after hearing, Domingues, Quivar and some others.

Effettivamente Verdi ho letto che avrebbe preferito che in quest’aria la cantante cantasse male proprio per dare idea del sonnambulismo e per il personaggio. Lady Macbeth is a dramatic coloratura role. When has Netrebko ever sung roles that prepare her for the Lady, a role that very few singers can do justice to? I can think of Verrett and Zampieri as good examples. And a lot of struggle. Just like here.

An acceptable "Una macchia...." , but she would not abuse the depth of the chest voice so much, and work more on breathing and legato. My humble opinion

The intonation is abominable. The vibrato is a semi-tone wobble. Why is she famous? Opera was finished a long time ago, she is just the latest flavor of the month proof.

Maybe the only one Time she sings something properly.... What a scale at the end to keep a high note way to long, so vulgar since Pavarotti....but this Time i must say it is not awfull or ridiculous.

Voice is unfinished and much too handled. She uses tension to achieve certain effects and as a result there are lots of unfocused moments and phrases that are under pitch. by a fraction) or that start with a flutter instead of a clean pitch center. She won’t last if she doesn’t go away and fix her technique Too bad because it’s clearly a warm and lovely voice and presence.

A lot of complaining on yt about her alleged lack of chest voice and so on. I heard her in the flesh as Santuzza. Her low notes are very resonant and carry very well in the hall of the Dutch National Opera. And the acoustic there is not optimal, so that is saying something.

She doesn't have a proper chest voice. Listen to Dominguez or Obraztsova in the same work.
