yeah... its hard to balance well. I do think the spitfires are criminally undertiered and the LF mk9 could go to 6.0 or 6.3 since it's definitely better than the Re 2005. And as much as people say its super strong, the P-51H kinda struggles cuz the 6x .50cals are not great and you can only really win against a spitfire if you boom and zoom/energy fight it, which takes time. Not very meta IMO

@SirBiscut2470 the guns are much better now, but the plane itself isn't excellent or meta. It is workable if you play it very patiently, stay low, stay fast, and conserve your energy, and I do like flying it, but I won't lie to you it takes time to learn and can be frustrating sometimes. It's worth trying out but it's a solid B/C tier plane

​@@CatWerfer Ok, I can work with that, I was just worried it was gonna be like the me262, where imo it has too high of a skill floor to make it workable for me. Thank you for giving some advice, but if you don't mind me asking one last question, is it any good at turning with people? (I don't expect it to out turn a ho229 or an f80 or anything like that) but is it capable of holding it's on in a dogfight, my play style very much is getting high up, waiting for a target, then diving and re climbing or turn fight then for a short amount of time, then climb. Would this plane be good for that? And if not, is there any other swedish starter Jet you'd recommend? I ask this bc I haven't found anyone give a cohesive answer. Sorry for the long comment and sorry if I'm bothering you, thank you for the help :)

@@SirBiscut2470 mmm It is a bit easier than the me262 since it's very straightforward to fly, just fly low and straight and fast and very passive, and its guns have good ammo capacity and decent velocity, but I still wouldn't say it's easy. In the swedish tree, I personally like the vampire and a28 more since they turn really well, even if they're slow. good for defensive flying

I also feel that commentary-less gameplay only videos can be hard to watch but voice only isn't the best to convey hard information so in the future, I'm hoping to use both onscreen prompts and potentially voice, whether my own or some sound cue. As for this video... it was probably entertaining because of how dumb realshatter was back then, I was genuinely flabbergasted at how hard it was to kill that f3d lol

gaijin likes to change brs in very dumb ways so unless something is criminally undertiered/overtiered then I usually dont like to consider brs and try to explain the merits of the plane by themselves so that even if the brs get changed, its pros stay pros and its cons stay cons

ideal climb rate happens when Excess Power (total energy produced minus energy expended for drag) is maximized. You can calculate it experimentally if you have a tool like WTRTI which logs flight parameters like velocity, altitude, etc. and solve for the energy gain over time (which is what i do, though there are some problems with WTRTI where it tends to give inacurate results for some values). You can also try to calculate it theoretically using engine thrust and drag values from flightmodel datamines like AdamTheEnginerd does in his "Aircraft Rate Of Climb Explained" video, though I don't think anyone has been able to fully calculate these values accurately over all altitudes and engine states and so is not guaranteed to be accurate. keep in mind that because engine performance, prop efficiency, drag, air temperature, air density, etc. all change depending on altitude and because the rate at which it changes is nonlinear, the ideal velocity to climb at changes depending on what altitude you're at and its hard to give a simple table for ideal climb speed at every altitude without going in and testing at every altitude and interpolating the results. Generally, the IAS you should climb at decreases as altitude increases, so if ideal climb is at 300kph IAS at sea level, a good estimate for at 5km altitude would be 270kph. Most props have their ideal climb speed at sea level around 260kph (zeros) - 310kph (americans), but most planes climb pretty decently when you stick them at 290-ish so unless you're really trying to micromanage your climb rate, I wouldn't recommend trying to find the ideal climb rate at all altitudes. If you're micromanaging to that degree then its probably better to focus on improving in dogfighting and if you've already done that, then you should be confident enough in a dogfight that you don't need an energy advantage to win against an average player. TLDR: gather data using WTRTI and find IAS that maximizes Excess Power for a given altitude. IAS for ideal climb rate varies with altitude but giving one value is okay if you're just shooting for "good enough"

@@toastyboi1627 i think the mig23bn is in a good spot right now since a lot of the planes with undodgeable missiles went up in br, but you still have to be confident with your guns. The mig 23mla is a decent fighter but I heard its flight performance and radar got nerves recently and I haven't tested so I'm not sure but at least it leads into the mig29s. Tldr choose the bn if you want to do gunplay and mla if you like missiles

if you go into CONTROLS > AIRCRAFT > WINGSWEEP, there should be an option to turn on RELATIVE CONTROL, which will let you increase/decrease the wingsweep value while you're in semi-auto or manual, instead of holding the button down for 100%/0% (I had this issue for throttle a while ago when I was rebinding my controls and it drove me insane)

@@CatWerfer the 3T has a 37mm instead of a 20mm in the motor shaft. If you compare the models of the Yak-9UT’s 37mm to the Yak-3T’s, you can see that they are both the same model with the same specs. The only difference is that the Yak-9UT’s fuselage is more slim and the wings are a little bit longer.

I know other youtube vids don't like to show full games, probably to try and hold the viewers' attention more and to just show highlights, but i feel like that makes it harder to demonstrate earlygame setup, which is just as important to winning as dogfighting skill. america is not a great nation to start with because unless you are playing specific planes like the p38 or xp50 that get an airspawn, they take too long to setup and it takes a lot of experience to know when the best time to stop sideclimbing and reengage is, and yeah the teams are definitely subpar. Generally the russian/japanese/british planes tend to perform a lot better in the air rb meta so for people who have only played US planes and are having trouble i'd recommend those nations

The 4B still has excellent guns so at the very least pushing headons still works, I remember i had an 8kill in it recently. though yeah its hard to call a plane good just because it can push headons well

I still don't think its meta enough to really compete well with other planes at its BR but yeah it can work if you push it

I had done some preliminary testing with WTRTI but some of the output values are innacurate or postfiltered that it makes the results a bit difficult to take at face value

maybe someday I'll be willing to learn how MEC works but for now I'm okay not using it since I think i perform well enough without it

well you can probably tell that my opinion of it isn't that great... for me it feels like a Do335 that can dogfight a bit more but still comfortably loses in most situations and doesn't quite have the speed of the do335 to escape bad situations. I also made a video on the do335 and I like it a lot better

I plan on making a video on this later but I think headons are still a skill that's good to practice and improve on. A lot of planes don't have much positives other than firepower so they have to try and kill enemies before a dogfight starts. There are also situations where you need to take headons, especially in a multiple vs 1 situation where you need to take some risks to eliminate enemies as quickly as possible. Even in a 1v1, its still best to shoot as a deterrent, even if you dont intend on hitting, just so the enemy can't have a free shot on you while you merge. Headons definitely aren't the first thing I'd recommend teaching a new pilot but I still think its an important skill that has its use

and it actually feels like a maneuverable fighter, unlike the bf109z
