Hey, I just wanted to say that I came here from a video by someone I don't really like. But I like this video. I like that you're honest and I'm sorry that has happened to you. I'm glad I've found your channel though, you have a new subscriber. :) You're not failure. Everyone does something dumb sometimes. That's called being human. Nobody gets to bully you or shame you, don't let them; shame isn't really constructive, but learning to be better and do better is. Remember that and throw out the bullies from your mental space! As a side note, I often reflect on copyright via the historical lens, which shows me clearly that this concept as executed today in Western countries doesn't really bring more benefits to our creativity. It's sad we live in a world where instead of being free to get inspired and to inspire, we need to constantly watch our backs.

What kind of brush are you using? It looks very natural. I love it.

Thank you, I am using a Surikomi brush for the center (you can also use a deerfoot brush), a Raphael brush for the petals and a Winsor & Newton Series 7 for the details - hope it helps!

Does it matter if the watercolor is transparent or semi-transparent or semi-opaque or opaque? It seems like when I try this with transparent paint, I can see the bottom layer still after putting on the extra layers...

Well, watercolor will always be transparent, but that's the beauty of it - for this technique, you just have to avoid painting on the top layers as you go - I have a few more detail videos on my channel on negative painting 👩🏽🎨🙏🏽

Duh! - I see on your overlapping leaf one, you can see the leaves through other leaves, but on your cactus painting, each layer is defined and you can't see the bottom layers coming through with the opaque indigo color going last. So interesting to see it both ways. - Thanks for answering!
