If it's a right tear, it could ti weak of a spine for your bow. Just a thought. I shoot 65# 28 in draw. 300 spine arrow gives me a 6inch right tear. 250 spine bareshaft I have bullet holes. I also realized I was Torquing some as well. Fixed that but shortening my draw length up 1/2 inch. Just a few things I ran into in my process. First and foremost, make sure your cam is in good timing, ND that you don't have vane contact with your rest. If those are issues nothing u do with the arrows will help

My best friend passed away in April and I was able to purchase his 60# Z7 from his wife. It has a 29 inch draw, so I was delighted to hear that's pretty much your bow of choice. Also I've also been listening to the Ranch Fairy quite a bit lately and want to build the ultimate penetrating arrow for mature whitetail bucks. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Or should I just copy what you're doing in this video? 🙂
@CentralFLOutdoors
@CentralFLOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Larry so sorry about your friend. That is my exact set up it’s 60# it just scales out at 62# this was a great build I changed a couple things before season though. I dropped broadhead weight but went to a two blade head. Truth is I don’t have feeder shots and sometimes I misjudge yardage by a years or two. I found that the sweet spot was about 525-550 grains. I would say buy a micro diameter shaft that has a low gpi like the victory VAP’s buy inserts that are adjustable weight and a broadhead between 150-200 grains . I love my VPA broadheads but I wish I would have gotten a smaller cut. Then go through “the process” get those arrows nock tuned get your bow bare shaft tuned and you’ll be good to go man. Best of luck!

If you dont like having the two strands for the fist three feet, just bury it and pop out 3ft down. You can also just start your loops from one end and end it 3ft from the other, this method saves you 1/4 the amount of amsteel you would need if you just doubled it up.

Well if you are shooting a 400 spine when you are shooting 70lbs, the spine will be too weak causing it to flex too much thus lost in momentum and transfer in energy. Secondly you are using standard diameter arrows. They are good in target archery but causes a lot of drag once it hits animal. I use the rage hypodermic on a vap 350 with 92 gr steel outsert, pass thru on everything in florida and elk out.
@CentralFLOutdoors
@CentralFLOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Freddie first off, I was shooting 62 pounds, with an arrow cut to 28” if that’s underspined by industry standards it’s not by much. I’ve shot a lot of deer with a rage, and I have had good recovery rates but every now and then I noticed something would go wrong even if I recovered the deer. This has been with standard diameter and micro diameter Easton axis. Personally I don’t think micro diameter makes a whole lot of difference after shooting both, especially if you are opening up a 2” hole in front of the arrow the shaft isn’t really dragging on anything. Last year I made a great shot at 12 yards that didn’t pass through so I just would rather be safe than sorry. This year I had my shortest blood trail yet. Blew through both shoulders stuck 6” in the ground and the deer went less than 40 yards. Just my thoughts, but everyone has their own. I’ve gathered most of my data from being a tracker for Florida blood trailing network, you can ask any other tracker what they think about expandables as a whole. Anyways man, just my thoughts. Good luck this year!
@Ninjamovesbeh
@Ninjamovesbeh 3 жыл бұрын
@@CentralFLOutdoors i had that problem too at first. I switched to fixed blades but the blood was far less then the rages. Its a bitch tracking in the swamp. I did some tinkering with my arrow set up too to get best result. I found that some arrows were more slippery than others. My vaps penetrated further and was easier to pull out of targets than axis arrows. Vaps have a ceramic coating, I know some hunters put arrow oil to get the same effect. Im glad your new set up works better now though. Best luck to you as well. Looking forward to future videos, good job.

Debating between 170 spine Grizzly Sticks or 200 spine Apollos. I want to run the Apollos but don't know if I will be underspined. If I run the Apollo I want to run 135 grain SS ethics outserts and then play around with point weights. My problem is that I want to have at least 150 grains of point weight, all the way up to 200 grains depending on what bare shaft paper tunes best, but, my arrows will be cut to 30.5 inches, so I am worried that I am still underspined even at that 200 spine. I'm a 30.5 inch draw length as well, pulling almost 80 lbs out of a VXR. Do I need to go with the 170 grizzly stick? thanks!!
@CentralFLOutdoors
@CentralFLOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Man that’s a tough one! If your draw length is 30.5” you might be able to cut your arrows down more. I know a half inch can make a big difference. I’ve heard good things about the grizzly sticks that’s for sure! I like the Apollo’s but there’s definitely nothing special about them. They are just solid arrows super tough and pretty strait, I wasn’t as concerned with FOC in my build though. If I had one recommendation it would be to go with either the grizzly stick or a Victory VAP. Because it’s less weight in the shaft you wouldn’t have to put as much up front to get your FOC so high. You’re gonna push well into 700 grains with that setup and you could probably get something around 625 with the same FOC and not be worried about spine as much. Also 600 grains is plenty for a whitetail, especially with north of 18% FOC. The last recommendation I would have is put as much of your weight as you can in the head and not the insert, it helps FOC and makes the heads bombproof when they weigh that much. Good luck!!

it's really sad how the industry has sold so many on the idea that light and weak was better. I shot Fred Bear wooden arrows with steel arrow heads. Yep, steel, heavy, and deadly. It was never going to be improved upon, so they changed up everything, and gave us a weaker product. Now they try to convince us that we need a new bow every year. geeezzzzzzz.
