That looks like a series III or series IV power steering pump. My tractor is identical to yours, only it’s a wide front and deluxe seat and it’s has the timing gear driven steering pump… but it’s a very late series II with serial # of 40,229.

When I was young we would use a hay conditioner. It seemed like forever to get it baled.

Their use has come back around as it aids in getting the first cutting to dry and makes the hay "softer".

From what I gather Buda had very little issue with this design, long time mechanics said they were rarely worked on.

What is the purpose of an energy cell? I have never heard of one before
@charlie1752 ай бұрын
It was part of the Lanova Head Design. Fuel and air would ignite in the energy cell. This was phased out when direct injection became more common.

I'm just curious. If you had it to do over again, would you purchase the same radio? Any other issues besides the time resetting? Thank you for the review.
@charlie1755 ай бұрын
For the price point I got a good size screen that does work. Call volume is low preset so when I get a call I need to crank up the volume to hear. But I am in a wrangler.... There may be a power lead that I missed to give it constant battery power. Somehow it gets interrupted once a week or so and resets the time. Carplay works great. I use the sirus XM app on my phone for music. maps work great. Backup camera is nice also.

That is so neat that you have had this since new! The D-15 is my favorite vintage tractor. I got the "D-15 bug" back when they were new. As a youngster I would crawl all over these at the local A-C dealer whenever my father was buying parts, etc. I remember I would beg him to buy one but he stuck with his WD-45. Bummer!! So I bought one nearly 55 years later! What's so cool about yours is that it can be used as a reference when restoring mine. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

@charlie1758 ай бұрын
Never seen a LP in person. I assume they were localized to where the supply of LP was good?
@mystic241008 ай бұрын
And the LP tank was behind the seat and not noticeable like on other tractors. Because of the high compression the spark would jump in the distributor cap quite often, would need to install a new cap.

@charlie17510 ай бұрын
They have a dry clutch that disengages 1 axle stopping movement. The WD style hand clutch was a better design. They weight around 2500 with no weights
