4 years on from 2020 and I've just picked up this lens today using on my R6. Had one previously (on 5d iv) and sold it to buy RF glass with instant regret! Test charts just don't do this lens justice (but who takes shots of charts lol!) and as others have said Sigma may be sharper, but it doesn't do what the 50 1.2 does. It's unquantifiable how this lens operates producing the most beautiful bokeh and colour. I love it!

Anyone who uses Canon at this point is a Fascist. For them to use software code to engage in Forced Obsolescence and only allow the 35mm F1.4 RF’s aperture dial to work in stills on the R1 & R5ii….shows the complete disdain for its existing customer base. People are leaving Canon in droves now because of tactics like this

Thank you for the nice and thoughtful video. Beautiful wedding photos dude. In fact, although I use the 35mm focal length, it is my least favorite one. It is not wide enough in my opinion for establishing scenes, and at the same time doesn’t prove enough separation from background, thus not the best portrait lens. For this reason, mg all time favorite focal lengths are 50mm and 28mm.

@@TheZachMendez I haven't tried the lens myself. I also don't need to when every review I've either watch or read (from KZfaqrs, but more importantly working professionals) universally agree and show us how awful the backlight performance is in terms of flare resistance and contrast. Not only that, the extreme vignetting and distortion is not acceptable for a lens this price.

The last week I took the 28-70 out for street photography and stayed at 35mm and was really pleased with 2.0, When I went through Lightroom stats I discovered my most used focal length while on the 28-70 is 40MM, I guess its what best represents my eye.

I currently have an RF 35 f1.8, RF 28-70 f2.0 and the RF 85 f1.2. I’m loving this combo. The 28-70 is very versatile, the 85 creates that magic and the 35 is macro so it allows me to get rings and very close details. I have been struggling with getting either the 50 or the 70-200. I think the 70-200 will be the better choice so I have more reach, and I can cover 50 with my 28-70. But the 50 is much lighter and has that 1.2 stop. So I keep going back and forth on which one to get.
