Great demo, thanx! What do you think of the build quality of this Pro 3? Whobbly knobs, sticky buttons...

Thank you a lot for checking out my video! The PRO3 has probably the tightest build quality I've ever experienced: the knobs are probably even a bit too stiff, everything is ultra solid, including the hinge, no sticky buttons (yet) All in all a great instrument!

Perché "infamous"?
@Dexba
@Dexba 7 күн бұрын

beautiful and meaningful (at least for me). Really get beyond the noisy nature of this instrument. A pinch of chaos here and there would have brought the cherry on the cake but it's a lovely piece, still. Well done!

Honoured, for real. Especially for "smaller" videos like this one, where it is just about the appreciation of the joy instruments bring us and the joy to share that with my virtual friends around the world! ...and I have to agree about the Mood mk2: almost didn't consider it in its purple over purple (wtf, Chase Bliss?) of the standard version, but this is just delightful!

I skip through and i just hear talking. Do you think its normal that you all talk more than you play synth on you channel and do you think its normal to explore a synth one time in a bad one take just to present anything new a week later until you die? There is a sickness in this scene... I never saw more disgusting creatures than synthtuber on the internet. No serialkiller nothing. Please go search for a new hobby like collecting soap. Then you can talk the whole day how it smells and feels and you can buy a new piece of soap every day....🎉

I admit I have no idea, I hope someone else can help you after reading this comment! The only advice could just to not focus too much on the final result you want to achieve, but to start putting together pieces that sound good to you, both alone and then in a broader context. The genre will follow!

Wow! That's sounds huge and really high fidelity. Did you add any post production? I can't believe that that is the sound of the OP1 field only.
@Dexba
@Dexba Ай бұрын
Absolutely no post production, and that was actually my main goal: it would have been so much simpler to take out the stems and put together this, without the fiddling with resampling, overdubs, EQing everything and the final gainstaging to mess with the sound (in a positive way)! And yeah, finally some audio quality from the OP1! FINALLY

Ahah sometimes I forget I tried to put a very clickbaity title on this video. But it was true, since every time I think about how much I spent on other music instruments (modular or not), nothing comes close in value for your money to the PRO3 Plus, it's a testament to the great patching capabilities. Love it, I should use it more.

@Dexba
@Dexba 22 күн бұрын
@@theleastsignificantbit4794 I agree: the Sub37 still wins the "init patch war", and that must be the reason why so many people ended up asking if the PRO3 is digital (a catch-all term for "cold-sounding" I suppose). I wish I could keep them all, these are definitely all amazing instruments, and it's a pity I even had to choose

No reverb, no ambient music 🤷🏻
@Dexba
@Dexba Ай бұрын
That's definitely true, and it also makes sense since ambient is about "something that surrounds" and reverbs are simulations of spaces surrounding us. With this instrument, the FX is considered part of the signal path, and while it is definitely needed to give some girth to the mediocre oscillators, I think it fits the project, since the cards the Solar42 uses are also coming from another project by ELTA!

@Dexba
@Dexba 2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much, I am glad you got to participate to my little musical adventure by the lake. The powerbank is an Omars 88Wh. Availability depends a lot on the country, but I liked this because it was still portable enough I could even bring it on a flight, while the next tier from Omars cannot. To find what could be best for you, I would recommend you to just search for "powerbank 220V" (or 110/100V, depending on where you live), or if your case is not as silly as mine (requiring an unusual 13V to operate) you can go the USB-C with PowerDelivery route, which would be way more convenient :)

I’m thinking build a system around Buchla or get solor42 (I loved your solor50 video) do you have some opinion about these synths? Since these synth are so rare to try at shop and also rare to see the guy who has experience with both (I under stand solor50 and 42 are different) I would love to know how was your experience with these machine. By the way I also loved your shirt!
@Dexba
@Dexba 2 ай бұрын
Interesting options! (be ready, my comment will be long, sorry in advance) I understand why you could be deciding between these two sides, especially from a video like mine, but there is something very important to consider: they are completely the opposite, and they cannot get into any sonic territory of the other instrument. • Buchla's approach will be about very simple building blocks that can be used to create something incredible, or not. There will be times when with a modular you get completely nowhere, and you will have wasted a lot of time on nothing (which can be educational too, but...). There are no FX, and even the smallest system will be quite bulky (the modules are very wide for today's standards, and not too thin, so you won't be able to use tiny skiffs. The sound quality is great, but even if it wasn't, it wouldn't be about that, since it is about the joy of the patching, the exploration, the achievement of a coherent work put together before your eyes. As with any modular system, but especially since it is made of small building blocks, you will want to expand a lot. Not only with other manufacturers, but also within the Buchla system, buying multiple copies of the same module, since everything will come in handy one day: I'd love to have a second sequencer for more interesting rhythms or another LPG for double stereo sum! • Solar42 approach will be about a wall of sound. It has effects, it has a touch interface for quicker access to the notes (compared to programming stuff in the tiny, unquantized, sequencer on the Buchla). It will definitely be better if you want to carry it around, but it will also require quite a bit of planning, since you will still be required to tune the instrument and you will have almost zero patching/programming, compared to the Buchla. I always found myself looking for more modulation, and I understand it wouldn't have been possible without completely redesigning the synth, with added costs and bulk. But I'd love to try it again! With the Solar50 I got fed up quickly exactly for this reason: it had the drawbacks of modular AND the drawbacks of a regular synth; now it seems they addressed part of my complaints with the Solar42, but the price also went up substantially. I think it depends a lot on what you value in your approach to the machine and the music: do you find relaxing and thrilling the challenge of patching from scratch every time? Or do you prefer having everything tidy and organized inside a big machine, but without the capability to go further in the process of sculpting the sound? These are both perfectly fine approaches, and we are so lucky to have so many good instruments available we cannot even choose ☺

Thank you so much for the great reply of your opinion!! I’m so happy that you explain so well and things started pretty clear and easier to make mind sometime soon in the future. If you don’t mind I ask one more question, how do you feel about quality of solar 50 compared to your other machines (include modules), sound, fx, machine noise… thank you again for great videos, I’m so happy I found your channel😊

@didopoken with a midi input you wouldn’t need to operate anything on the Wingie, because you would be controlling the scale (and the notes in general, since scales are just little boxes for always the same notes) with the midi controller of your choice!
