I encounter Nujabes music almost 13 years ago. April 2011. The story behind my discovery is pretty funny, which is why I'm telling it to you today. I was a teenager who listened to all kinds of music, but at that time I listened a lot to grunge, I adored Kurt Cobain's band Nirvana. As you may know, Cobain died at the age of 27, like many other famous artists. In my young but already very Carthesian mind, there was no curse, just coincidence. I suddenly had the urge to "create" such a club. So I arbitrarily chose the age of Christ when he died - 36, no doubt to anchor the club. So, here I am in 2011, creating a wikipedia page and scouring the internets for artists who died at the age of 36. Soon, I find super stars who died at 36 like Marilyn Monroe and Bob Marley. This pushes me to look for more artists to fill in the gaps and give more consistency to the article, which btw will never see the light of day since the page will be repeatedly removed from the site for lack of any reference other than my own mind. But I don't know it yet, and in my research I come across an article about a Japanese musician, a certain Jun Seba, who died in a car accident on the Shuto freeway. I copy-pasted his stage name on youtube, which was none other than the letters of his name in reverse (seba jun | nu jabes). The music spoke to me immediately, as if I'd already perceived it, as if I'd always perceived it. And this is long before the explosion of Nujabes' general renown, and prior to latter Lo-Fi explosion. When I listen to his music today, I don't feel the same emotion as I did then, as I do for most musics. I'm kind of desensitized. Nevermind, today, listening again to this marvel, I wonder something else, something I didn't wonder then, in my entirely atheistic mind. Was this discovery simply a logical consequence of my whimsical research, the fruit of luck, or a wink from the universe (or smt else) guiding me from my then favorite grunge band to this fabulous artist via the death of Christ? Anyway, let me know what do you think about this, and see you all somewhere on the internet ;)

This was a great read. I personally listen to mostly Dubstep and heavy edm but also discovered Nujabes back in 2011 with the song feather. I never realized the origin of his name so thanks for that. I find myself coming back to his music every few years and it always makes me reflect on the ways I’ve grown and changed as a person. Literally “funny how the music putting times in perspective”
