every video ive watched for modding an ipod classic shows the hard drive ribbon cable being wider than the one in mine. do they make a iflash quad that fits mine ipod? it also is a samsung hard drive

Love mine...the only issue I have with it is the requirement of a special screwdriver/bit to open it up...If you put one drive and keep it here, it's great.

How do you add art cover in your Flac music? also is there a way to turn off the B&W cover when playing music?

You can just use a music manager to add it to files. If they dont show up, make sure to limit their size (i think 200x200px max is the size supported by rockbox). You can also put the cover BMP file in the folder of the album itself.

I have owned s, t and f. Sold them all. The AF on the t and f is more noisy than on the s. I recently got a used s model again (guess I missed it), and I love the IQ and simplicity of the camera. Am considering getting the f, for the higher resolution. Its just so expensive used.

The jump in resolution is not that big, unless you print large or you intend to aggressively crop… Id keep the s ;)

I ran into an error when I installed the sd card adapter.. the ipod loops while saying "please wait very low battery" .. it works perfectly fine with the normal ipod hard drive which makes me think its an issue with the adapter :( i wanted to send it to the company but they said its an sd card issue so they cant help :/

I could, but Its ubuntu based and cosmic is as heavy UI shell as Gnome 3 so it will be like trying ubuntu with a different color scheme.

I can only restore my ipod classic 5 on macOs but then i can not install rockbox because my ipod is not then formatted to fat32 and i couldnt get to format it right. I need to know how to restore it with itunes on windows 10!!!

Hi there! I don't know whether it would be possible with Google infotainment - I did pair it with normal BT car systems and with Apple Car enabled ones - in those cases it was just detected as a BT media source...

Hello there! I haven't tried to reproduce all the macOS possible gestures there. I know that Mint has quite an extensive customization options and by default a lot of them work - tap instead of click, double tap, three tap to move window.... But I don't know the extent to which you can go :)

Like you, I was able to squeeze out all juices off my macbook pro late 2008 (2 SSDs; RAM to max, Linux dualboot, OCLP) but lets be honest - at the moment no distro (out of the box) can beat Apple's gestures capability. But overall I 100% agree - on the same machine Mint performs way better than El Capitan. On this machine via OCLP I was able to install the latest Monterey. Yes, it works, but apparently Mint works better.

Hello, thats quite a broad question. I don’t know how you’re transferring the playlist, what are the format youre going for, etc. You don’t need a rockbox per se - the default firmware has playlist functionality as well.

I still have my 2010’s iPod touch with Bluetooth. My classic is also in storage, but that one doesn’t hav3 Bluetooth, but it does have a docking spot on an iPod specific double speaker bar.

You're living the past with Etcher, today we all use Ventoy which allows you to put many distro on one USB drive. My Ventoy drive has 65 distros on it and I distro hop every weekend. I have 5 m.2 drives in my Linux Box using Pcie adapters. Come into the 21st century with Ventoy! I have tried over 50 distros and always go back to my Linux Mint install. Ease of use and an awesome panel that has dozens of applets that make Mint my daily driver! BTW I have used Linux for over 30 years and have not gone back to Windows since Win10 came out.

If you installed rockbox but didn't like is revereable without having it on like if it was not installed in the first place ? Also is their that much difference from alac to flac In sound qauilty

Great questions! Yes you can uninstall rockbox fully - there is also an instruction how to do it on their website. In terms of quality there is no difference between alac and flac, both are lossless formats.

Hey there. Yes, BT is independent from the OS fully. Its a transmitter integrated to the audio jack :)

Hi Joel! I am still using it indeed. It gets warm (or hot depending on your definition), but in my use cases it never reached high temperatures (like 70-80 and more). Check my last video - a review of Graugear enclosure with built in fans. It’s as good as Satechi in terms of speed, smaller and temperatures are lower because of the fan!

I don't like the permanency of this mod, or how it changes the look of the device. It seems to me the only pros that you can't achieve with some other methods are that there's no soldering and it keeps the 30 pin connector. I think I'll pass.

Fantastic video! What amount of internal storage for MacBook Pro would you recommend is the best balance between cost and functionality considering that I will be getting the same satechi/nvme external drive (2tb). Context I do light 3D rendering and video/photo editing

Thank you! You could check how much of your current drive is occupied and by what? Applications like GrandPerspective can help. I myself have 1tb internal drive in my MacBook and it is mostly free - if your media / project files are on external storage, I would say even 512gb drive is enough.
