Possibly the greatest super robot anime out there. With great animation, soundtrack, and story. Characters is great too but can be a bit messy as it mashup from so many different manga, a lot of them from Chinese classical too like The Water Margin and Records of the Three Kingdoms.

I don't think this is really good. Perhaps a little more slowness, deeper pitches, bigger spaceships, darker hues could have helped.

Somehow this raises my manga and anime standards in terms of maturity, story, gore and pureness of art. Animes like Berserk, Vinland Saga, became like a kids show for me when i watched Shigurui. I haven't found anything that came up to par with it. Always below. Like Texhnolyze, Basilisk, Blade of the Immortal. It's all below Shigurui's standards. The mangaka Takayuki Yamaguchi is an absolute genius.

Same here brother! Exactly the same. I liked the anime so much that i wanted more so i ended up reading my first manga. Nothing can beat it in my eyes. Looks like it left a mark on us all
