Not yet commented?! Hm... I have the experiance to use a 2,6m paddle to not get wet inside IronRaft Packraft. The lady in the yellow packraft should be wet.

Great video. Just about to buy a raft from you folks. What paddles would you recommend? It will used mainly in upland environment and would need something like above for my rucksack? Cheers.

You didn't let the dog get in! I used to look after my mates Jack Russel (when he and his family went on holiday) and Tomtom (the dog) used to love going in my inflatable. One time I put the boat in the water and turned round to pick up the paddle and the dog made a running jump into the boat which of course gave it enough momentum to drift off. Luckily enough I had the painter on the bank and was just able to grab it before the dog drifted off out of reach. The little bugger, hahahahaha.

Would that method also work for thicker vinyl? Let's say the same material which drybags are made of?

Greetings from Italy! A question: where can you buy that kind of "iron" to weld the various pieces? Thank you.

Hi! You can buy them on a number of places on the internet, Amazon is where I have ordered mine from and they have done a great job. :) Cheers, Toby

Hello sir, this heat sealing technique we use for only TPU fabric, BUT joining PVC FABRIC is possible from this same heat sealing technique?

I'm afraid we have no experience with PVC, however I do not think it would be possible.

For the last two boats (and in the video) I have used the Jamara Pro Star. It is extremely powerful and creates a good bond, however the compromise is that it is slightly oversized and you will find that you often only use the tip of the iron. (You may need to purchase an adaptor depending on your location as it is a german company and comes with a 2 pin plug.)

Isn't this a copy of Matt's DIY packrafts from Canada?
@ironraftself-buildpackraft5160
@ironraftself-buildpackraft5160 7 жыл бұрын
The idea of building a packraft at home is same yes. We're trying to make it more accessible for the people in Europe. It is worth mentioning also that our boats and kits have different specs to the DIY packraft kits from Matt.

Great video, thanks! Is that iron you are using coated with something so the plastic doesn't stick to the iron?
@ironraftself-buildpackraft5160
@ironraftself-buildpackraft5160 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert. The Iron has a teflon coating, although it has worn off at the tip as you may be able to see in the video. Our fabric is high temperature nylon so it will not melt/stick to the iron around 200 deg. so it is more to do with the fabric rather than the coating on iron.
