6 years late but I'm finally getting started with the Yakuza series, I'm only on chapter 2 but I decided to grind this one out. After 40 minutes I had my very first run where I got to the moving rainbow marker, I decided screw it I'm risking this, I'm not doing this 4 more times and just went for it. I didn't even look at the ball, the bat, or anything, I just zoned out and waited until it felt right to swing...And I hit it, getting it right in the rainbow circle and earning that sweet sweet 21 mil

So I think I figured out the "trick" to this for anyone still having trouble with this one. Kiryu himself actually gives you the timing to hit the ball. Just aim, watch his stance, and hit the button to swing when he stops circling the bat around, tightens his stance, and rears the bat back slightly on his own.

Not very reliable to go by that. The timing should be based entirely on watching the ball, not Kiryu.

Absolutely despise how little control you actually have over this minigame. Unless you've got the muscle memory of a god to input the exact same direction, power and spin on every attempt split bowling is beyond frustrating. It's only made worse by the fact that it takes forever to retry since you have to watch an animation, sit at the pointless tally screen, load back into the game world, speak to emiri, then watch that dumb unskippable intro animation just to get back into it. Going for 100% in this game is agonising sometimes.

@@sadderthanyou7793 The main problem with the HD Remaster is in the sound department: tracks don't sustain notes as they should. Even after the patches it hasn't been fixed. Demul, on the other hand, only has a few texture problems (Yamagishi's house; a certain gambling spot on South Carmain Qr.), but everything else works as it should. Unfortunately this emulator has more input-lag than other emus (not the bird), although that might've been partially on my part, as I was using a Dualshock 1, which of course requires an adapter. I've felt the difference during Arm Wrestle matches when using a keyboard - - there's less delay, so perhaps using an Xbox controller with its XIput API would be the way to go... Since you've mastered the fighting, give it a try on Demul and let me know if it's too delayed. Try different controllers, if possible. There's also GDEMU. Just like Demul, it gets rid of slowdown on crowded areas, thanks to the faster access speed of an SD card.

@@marioe.4400 Sorry, Demul won't work on my Linux PC and I don't use Windows at all. You're right about the HD remaster having severe audio issues. GDEMU is something I'd like to check out, but I don't want to buy the Chinese clone and the original is too expensive for me, to be honest.

@@sadderthanyou7793 Considering how unreliable the laser units on DC are, it's absolutely worth it. It is THE thing to do when getting the system. Currently it's not possible to make a preorder - as they come in very limited batches - but once they become available, don't let it slip away. I don't know if you grew up with Dreamcast, but regardless, here's some I'd recommend. Some were lazily ported, so they're best enjoyed on DC: Skies of Arcadia - Gamecube has extra quests, but worse music quality and no Pinta Quest (VMU mini-game); Jet Set Radio (De La Jet Set Radio - - the complete version) - The PC port plays weird; trick animations are fucked up and some tracks were removed); Street Fighter Alpha 3 - Sega Saturn version is more arcade-accurate but has worse sound quality and none of the extra modes found on DC; PSP version has 3 extra characters but you're not gonna play it on that tiny analog stick, right? Only emulated with a favourite controller or arcade stick; Capcom Vs. SNK - Perfect Naomi port; Sega Extreme Sports - Really interesting and unique, even if a little stiff. Soundtrack by Ninja Theory; Headhunter - PS2 version has better encoded FMVs and some crash bugs were fixed. VGA support on DC; Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles - Terrible color banding on the PS2 version, but variable/uncapped framerate on DC; Ecco The Dolphin: Defender of the Future - One of the most "I'm so lost" games you'll find, but really technically impressive, with great music and ambience. Metropolis Street Racer - Tight gameplay; day-night cycle with timezones; hysterical soundtrack; Virtua Tennis 2 - One of the hardest A.I I've come across; Crazy Taxi 2 - Still an exclusive to this day; The best versions of Tony Haw's Pro Skater 2; Spider-Man and Rayman 2. Then you have more experimental stuff like Seaman; L.O.L (Lack of Love); Roomania #203. Plus, there's still people playing Online! You can check out some streams at 'DreamcasticChannel'. And now it's even possible to run Atomiswave games! You can also get many prototypes and betas at HiddenPalace(dot)org. It's literally impossible to get a better deal at that price point. There's no luck involved. This minigame has no randomness in it. However, matching everything perfectly is not as easy it sounds. You need to develop a certain timing in your hands in order to set the ball's initial angle and spin. The spin is especially important and there's a great deal of sensitivity involved when tapping the d-pad to do a proper spin.

@@sadderthanyou7793 Excuse me, I will not argue directly with a high achiever such as yourself but let me just say that I've done the Trapezoid two different times with ball power at 29 and 35 times respectively, both times dead on in the center without any adjustments, and the first attempt failed while the second succeeded. To be fair, there is A TON of RNG in this minigame to the point that anyone claiming otherwise is utter nonsense. The exact way you aim is random, how much power you put in is random, where the ball leans after you release it is random, where it goes after hitting pins is random, where pins go after being hit is random. It could ask you to roll a d100 until you get a 1 twice in a row and be more consistent and fair than this.
@Slate398
@Slate398 2 жыл бұрын
@@LimitedRegicide That's not entirely true at all. While it's hard to make exact adjustments, you can clearly see where you're aiming the ball, you have a meter that shows how much power you're putting in from 0-100 (just requires good timing), you can choose heavier or lighter balls, and you can control the strength of the rotation in either direction, just after setting the power. Obviously the game isn't going to be perfect when it comes to physics, but a little bit of practise makes it easier to understand how the ball will react based on weight, power, and rotation. The way you describe it as "a ton of rng" makes it sound like you press one button and everything is determined for you at random, it's not. You determine every stat, you just need good enough reaction speeds.
@LimitedRegicide
@LimitedRegicide 2 жыл бұрын
@@Slate398 So you're saying you can, guaranteed, get the exact same direction and power every single time without being off at all even once? Bullshit
@Slate398
@Slate398 2 жыл бұрын
@@LimitedRegicide I'm not saying you need to have the exact same outcome everytime, though it is possible albeit very difficult to do. Besides, you have the completely wrong idea of what "rng" is. It stands for random number generation. That would mean that everytime you press the button to aim down the lain, it would randomly select one of 'x' number of positions. Then when you press the button to select your power output, it would randomly select a number from 0-100 and so on. You have very high control over how the ball acts in this game. What makes it difficult is understanding how/where to aim, how the different weights affect your throw, etc. But if you want to throw at either 30 power or 100, it's not hard to do. If you want to throw down the middle of the lane, or slightly off to one side, that's also extremely easy to do. That's nowhere near rng.
@LimitedRegicide
@LimitedRegicide 2 жыл бұрын
@@Slate398 I know RNG is, I'm not retarded. And, I'm glad you agree then that despite needing to be absurdly, needlessly precise getting things consistently isn't possible. Because the exact angle you aim is random, the exact power is random, where the ball travels and leans is random and where it bounces after hitting the first pin is 100% random.
