I started turning a year or so ago on a mini harbor freight lathe. Despite some of the reviews, I found it to be just like any other tool. If you respect it, do the proper maintenance, and don’t try to treat it like it stole something from you, it has worked flawlessly. I’m now in the process of upgrading to a full size lathe which most I’ve looked at are in the $3000 range. I’ve been curious about the grizzly lathes. I know many people who use their joiners and planers and love them. You’ve given me something to think about. If the company cares enough to recall certain pieces of their machinery for customer safety, that says something.

I agree. I was pleasantly surprised myself. It did take a few months for the new pieces to arrive. However they did let me know that upfront as they were made overseas. I have bought from them in the past and will buy from them again. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Very poor explanation of mixing colors. One is left to “assume” you used spray paint sprayed into a cup with epoxy (if yes, what color epoxy) then poured it on the table top. Common, you can do better than this!!!

This saw looks identical to the maksiwa sc.1000.i, but this one have a lower HP rating. It's 800 at Menards, which is a fair but cheaper and free ship to store. Curious for the saw is working out for you.

It is a huge upgrade for me. The only glitch I had was I needed to get a 12 gauge extension cord for it to work. The smaller cords had too much draw on start up. After calling the company and upgrading to a 12 gauge extension cord it works great. I have ripped 12’ boards and cut 3/4” sheet goods so far. No problem.

That's a lot of wobble when you crank the adjustment wheels.
@raystoolbox
@raystoolbox 6 ай бұрын
I noticed that when I looked back on the video. Then I realized it was sitting on the wheels and not the floor. No wobble when it’s solid on the floor. I tried to make a note about that in that section. Live and learn. Thanks for your input. Subscribe if you haven’t yet and I’ll try to do better :-)

I use amana blades---not thin kerf. I use amana dados. Razor sharp. this saw does not have the power to cut hardwood dados or reliably cut hardwood without burning it. Its way underpowered. Its a contractor saw---made for plywood and 2x4s, obc, and building a house.
@mtsaz100
@mtsaz100 6 ай бұрын
These were made by steel city in china, rebadged rikon, craftsman, mastercraft, and ridgid. I wish you had shown the trunnion adjustment. I have the sears version and have for 10 years. I threw away the garbage fence and got a vega---which can be transferred to any table saw--best investment I made. Now the blade/slot is not in line, and if I can't adjust it- to the trash it will go. I paid 400$ for it- you get what you pay for---I could have got a granite table cabinet saw from sears at the time for 799$ but it was super heavy and I had no way to get it home. I should have found a way. These saws are NOT for fine cabinet making. You can do "OK" but these are not super accurate precise table saws. I dont care if you use 250$ blades, change the fence, get rid of the toy mitre gauge and get an incra (I recommend) they still are not 100% precise. They are fair at best.

@raystoolbox I'm giving the saw away to a friend at work.. but I hope the saw works wonders for you and all your projects pay very close to the fence the 2 set screws on the front to square up the fence to the miter slot kept loosening which would put the fence out of square which can be dangerous it's just a friendly warning if you can find a good solution to keep the screw from moving but not freezing them from adjustment let me know cause I tried everything nothing seemed to work

You showed the wheels , but never demonstrated them working to show the saws mobility. That is of huge importance to me.
@raystoolbox
@raystoolbox 7 ай бұрын
Sorry about that. The wheels pick the saw up and it rolls easily. I did show moving the saw some. I did not show actually using the pedal. When you pick the wheels back up to set the saw back down it seems to "drop" the saw back to the floor. You can see that in the video. Not a big deal, but it does sound bad.

Almost identical to my Rigid. I found that the aluminium Bocsh router table bolts right on to the right end of the table saw, extending the table out to the end of the fence bars perfectly. Saw works great single blade but doesnt like big dados, needs a 3-5hp motor.

I’ve heard that table saw was built by Ridgid, but private labeled for Rikon. Is that right? How do you like it?
@raystoolbox
@raystoolbox 7 ай бұрын
All the paperwork has Rikon on it. Is it made by someone else? I don’t know. Not unusual these days. I have upgraded from a $150 table saw so anything will seem better. That being said, I like it! The saw is heavy, sturdy and solid. I haven’t had a lot of time to use it yet. It was easy to assemble and everything was in adjustment. It has a large top for sheet goods. I feel like this will be the only table saw I will ever need. Thanks for your interest. If you haven’t subscribed go for it. I have a dust collector to assemble next :-)
