I’ve been asked to be some artists managers. How would I start ? I believe I should have them make some music and I’d need to forward it to venues other promoters etc idk I’m just learning

2:00 They all have different definitions. A band manager is self-explanatory: artists managers don't manage bands; they manage artists (solo performers, painters, photographers, etc.). Music managers oversee all aspects of the industry (a broader scope), and talent managers manage talents of many disciplines. I'm not sure where you got the idea that they're all the same (maybe it’s the new industry and how they've ignored standards,) but there are differences. Plus, you forgot, Personal Manager.

I accidentally landed in this business, a man sent me his song and I told him his facebook page was not getting the viewers he needed and he asked me if I can manage his accounts so I took it from there

Great vid topic. I'll just add what I know from experience. So from the beginning: work up a few numbers for open mics along w a couple covers. If you want to play corporate, sure do a bunch of covers. Start mixing it up by sitting in or having others sit in with you. Open mics also serve as auditions between musicians, as in they are a great way to find band members. Offer to play house parties. You can also get a daytime spot at your state or county fair pretty easily. Can't get a spot at South by because they are crazy gate kept? Just call bars in the area and book a private show. But make sure that you ask about any rules that matter to you beforehand. I had a bar tell me I couldn't have my beer backstage. So yeah, f u c k those losers. Wouldn't go back. One thing to remember is that there is a whole lot of envy that the weaker and less talented artists tend to harbor for those who do well. They will sabotage you and they will screw you over any chance they get. Do not let envious or petty people run your sound. Do not let them organize anything. Do not let them book you anywhere. Book yourself, at least to start. It's hard to emphasize this enough, and if you are female on the scene? It's that times a thousand. And without the brotherhood back patting camaraderie. They will set you up, they will lie about you, they will pretend to be your friend and then only want one thing in the end. And so, so much worse. Seriously evil, criminal stuff. It's actually really sad and there are huge numbers of women who just stay away from the scene because of that stuff. And Men are okay with that because they can just say "see? Women aren't talented and/or they don't want to do that kind of work.. music is for the boys! Never did a dumber or more ridiculous lie ever exist. Oh, and Don't tolerate that for exposure nonsense. Just expose your middle finger when you hear that. They can pay you or you walk. And yes, the clubs and bars are in cahoots in their efforts to essentially keep musicians from making any money so they can keep it in their own pockets. Because artists are so powerful and because our messages have such a massive effect on society, the ruling bloodlines and they're lackeys all the way down the pyramid are here to stop you from doing anything good. Yes, you can sing about d r u gs and glorify date r 4p3 and pettiness and trash, but if your message is good? And you get followers? They will put out serious effort to stop you, up to and including destroying your entire life. Leveling it. I mean, I have seen art districts infiltrated with little military boot losers. We have been targeted in many ways. It was insane. They are terrified of us. AND THEY SHOULD BE. :) tick tock. Annnnyway, All the best to the decent, good people who are out here to make their way in the arts. Keep on keepin on. If you've got a story like that stuff I was talking about, get at me. I'd like to publish some stuff and start putting the pieces together to expose more of the infiltrator and sabotager social structure. Cheers.
