Genius! Back in 2010 I had the chance asking The Edge about Womanfish and he kindly told me almost embarrassed that the band tries to forget about the song. Apparently there’s no recording of it (I doubt, U2 records and archives everything). Anyway, I told him I think it was pretty cool. But hey-ho… It’s proto-U2 during one of their many transformations. Early attempts that IMO led to Edge finding his rhythm-solo style he would perfectionate and record later that year for The Joshua Tree and there are elements of what possibly morphed over the next 4 years into The Fly, like Bono’s high-pitched vocal part and the ending of the tune is essentially what they did stylistically on the outdo of The Fly. Also the short echoed notes Edge plays before the mid-8 here are a nod to earliest U2 songs like Boy/Girl, The Dream is Over or Kings New Clothes.

Yes Drunk as a skunk. He and Larry did an interview and answered questions from the audience of the TV show (not the audience of this songs) before this performance. He wasn’t really sober then. But he definitely had some pints of Guinness (or more potent drinks) between that interview and this “show”.

As magnificent as prime level Oasis was, they truly should've had the global dominance and exposure that a super group like Coldplay had and still has. But I guess Oasis would have lost that iconic cult status for 20 year olds like me in the mid 90s thinking the late night parties and skirt chasing will never end😢 That's a quality Coldplay can never have on fans.
