I'm no expert but I *think* the FO should stay put and receive fire requests (at 17:00ish). I think it works by the section relaying info to platoon commander and then up chain of command and across to FO.

I really liked watching these scenarios in this real time type of way. I'd usually play them myself right after.

I salute your recognition of the history that these men forged. I did a career in the infantry because I realized that someone needs to carry forward the torch lit by the sacrifices men such as these endured. They gave us the world we know today. It takes ordinary people with the courage to do extraordinary things that makes the diffierence.

The first poor video that you have served up. The super sped up section hurt my eyes so much it rendered it almost unwatchable. It also exposed the fact that you were toggling the trees, making it look like you were fighting in Telegraphpoleland, rather than Normandy.

I've never liked the stock music that came with the game. I send my boys into battle with a mod called "Hot Club de Limeyland", which as the title suggests, consists of tunes recorded by Django, Stephane, and the other boys in the band in London just before the war.

What's the book you're referencing at kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gM-pYLt50afahGg.html? Oh, you do mention books at the end of the video so it's prob one of those. Also, thanks for the amazing video and footage! It's interesting seeing it in tandem with authentic original photographs and battle plans. Makes it all so much more real. Great job in both tactics and videography!

I'd agree, I'm much more of a turn based player myself. Being out of control for that minute whilst everything runs is stressful in a different way, but when you put together a good turn and manage to nail coordinated movements its very satisfying. If there's one thing we took away, off recording, from real time, it was the idea of having designated fall back paths planned in but paused so we could un-pause units as required for a withdrawal.

I remember reading somewhere that German commanders (I think) ensured their troops always followed a barrage closely. They were happy to suffer some casualties from their own artillery as long as they could storm the objective before the enemy had time to recover and reset their defence.

Really useful observation about scenario design. CM is not made for a mass market or the COD generation. Scenarios are made by the community for all sorts of reasons and to test, examine or demonstrate a variety of things so it was really good to include the insight from the designer that this scenario is designed to illustrate the trade-off between minimizing risk by doing the whole village and taking on some of that risk to your own forces by being restrained - on Herrick 5 we often said "War on the cheap is called "loosing" ". This series of videos has been really good, thanks for sharing.

This battle is one of my favourites from the Commonwealth Forces module. And this is a very interesting way of looking at it. Probably the only thing that could have improved this video would have been the use of 15th Division uniform and vehicle mods.

I'll actually try to bear that in mind going forward. I was tinkering with the idea of modding some of the Brits for CMFB Downfall and bumped into The Commonwealth Troops & ModTag Project. I think that has everything to play the final eight scenarios with the correct units represented.
