I'd like to suggest this route I found! Its quite an experienced route so don't be too put off! Haha. You start at the base of Smeaton's Tower and rotate around it until you get to the top! Took me 6 mins 31 seconds. Good luck guys!

She was a from a breeder local to us, however we found her through pets4homes. There’s also a really good Facebook group for cockerdor/spanador owners, which includes lots of breeders keeping in touch with their litters and people who have found their puppies through that group. It’s called ‘The Cockerdor Page’ ☺️

@hattieeday
@hattieeday Жыл бұрын
Aww that’s so exciting, good luck! What sort of cockerdor are you getting? We don’t live in a flat anymore but Cally was about 6/7 months when we moved, so she was toilet trained in a flat. Do you have access to outdoor space/a balcony in your flat? We trained Cally to do her business in a large plastic dog bed that we lined with Astro turf to start with. There’s also Piddle Patch, which sell squares of grass for dogs to use to do their business when they live in flats. Once she was allowed outdoors on the floor because she was fully vaccinated, we then used to just take her out super regularly (every hour or so) to give her the opportunity to go. Crate training also really helped with toilet training, as you get into a routine so you can better predict when they need to go ☺️ Of course we had accidents along the way but with consistency they get there!

Of course but it’s useful to know what breed mixes/mutts are so you can estimate their adult size and some of their characteristics they’ll likely inherit. There’s nothing wrong with mixes in my opinion, especially with the amount of in/over breeding for ‘pure’ dogs these days ☺️

@hattieeday

Thank you! Yes they do have jackets, though mostly we just wrap them up in drying coats after walks in winter rather than them wearing something on the walk. They're the types of dog that like to get wet and muddy, so wearing jackets is bound to result in them getting ripped or torn!

Could I please ask where you got Cally from? I'm based in Devon and love smaller retriever mixes so would love to learn more 🙂
@hattieeday
@hattieeday Жыл бұрын
Oooh exciting! Cally was actually part of an accidental litter and the family have since moved away from Devon. I found her through the Pets4Homes website though if that helps! I had an alert on for cockadors/cockerdors within a certain radius of where we're based. I think labrador crosses are becoming more and more popular at the moment, definitely look at lab cross cockers or staffies etc. if you're looking for a smaller dog. There is of course a lot of variance within litters when you cross two breeds for the first time, so another option would be to look at litters with two cockador parents, so you can see what sort of size they might be when they're fully grown. Cally is definitely a very small cockador/cockerdor, usually they're more similar in size to a springer spaniel or small labrador. However, Cally is more of a cocker spaniel size. I hope that helps!

The cutest pup ever 🥹 can I ask what the shedding is like for both cocker spaniels and cockerdors, do they leave a lot of fur around the house?
@hattieeday
@hattieeday Жыл бұрын
Thank you! They don't leave a huge amount of fur, however they do shed. I'd say Cally sheds the least out of the three of the. However if you buy a deshedding brush and groom them regularly you can minimise shedding, as you're removing the dead hair from the undercoat yourself
@paultrewin5871
@paultrewin5871 Жыл бұрын
As someone who had 2 labradors for 15 years and now has a working cocker spaniel, there is no comparison. With the labs there were hair balls everywhere. It was always a struggle to clean them up. With the cocker we barely see any. She is regularly brushed, but so we’re the labs. Cally is absolutely adorable btw.
@hattieeday
@hattieeday Жыл бұрын
@@paultrewin5871 of course! I think it's also important to remember that when you get a crossbreed you can't predict characteristics in the same way you could a pedigree dog, as even within the same litter there's so much variance! So while Cally doesn't shed too much I don't know whether that's the same for her siblings or not!

How’s the board holding up? Looking at buying this. Have you had any issues with the deck pad peeling?
@hattieeday
@hattieeday Жыл бұрын
It's alright! The underside is a little faded and scuffed but that's from where I've accidentally gone over rocks in the sea. The deck pad isn't peeling but the dogs have scuffed it with their claws in some places. As it's a black deck pad, it can get quite hot on sunny summer days so it's worth keeping that in mind if you intend to go out during the afternoon/when the sun is its most intense!

I really like the board. There has been a bit of fading to the colour on the bottom, which is slightly disappointing but I guess to be expected because I use it in the sea? The valve feels like it's at the wrong end too when you're rolling it up after a paddle but once you've got the knack for how to roll it up to fit it back in the bag it's fine! All in all I'm still happy with it a year later and it's definitely an upgrade from what I used to have!
