Thank you for a very imformative video, however i did not se how you adjusted the "hand brake adjuster. Does uppvards make the shoes go more outward, and down more inward? Also what did yo do with the brake shoes after adjusting it?

Thanks for doing the test and analysis. I will keep the range and its efficiency when going long trips! 🤑

I have been doing drum brakes for nearly fifty years and the first place I start is by putting masking tape/painters tape on the braking surface of the new brake shoes. This will keep them clean and uncontaminated while they are fitted and simply ripped off before the drums are refitted. Nice video.
@davemas19652 ай бұрын
The adjuster spring was on the outside when you originally pulled the drum off but when you put it back together you put it on the inside.

23:20 you must have hands like King Kong, because that's bloody hard to do. Edit: I tried a needle nose pliers and for some reason it was much easier to do.

How much range do you "lose", not "loose". Loose is the opposite of tight.

you could mount them during long trips ! I would like to do the same tests with my MYP but cannot find some 21" covers
@masterautoreviews15466 ай бұрын
Yes, this is an option but in practice it is very unplasant to mount and mostly unmount them. Not to mention during the colder months when the roads are dirty. The better option would be to find aftermarket wheels that have similar aerodynamic properties. Not so many available but I expect this will change in the future.

An additional factor might be the order of the 2 tests...
@masterautoreviews15466 ай бұрын
What do you mean ? Both tests were run with a conditioned battery. Checked the consumtion data and none of the test runs used any battery energy for heating the battery. Where else would the order matter ?

I would guess that aftermarket Cover wheels are even worse.
@masterautoreviews15466 ай бұрын
Not sure. There are some wheel covers that cover the entire rim opening. You can find them in online stores like aliexpress. Those should behave similarly to the aero covers that Tesla uses.

Wheels are nice, but I’ll take the range ;)
@masterautoreviews15466 ай бұрын
Me too. However however there are some aftermarket wheels that look nice and design wise might do the job for aerodynamics.

Does it also randomly shift gears when in cruse control? I saw you shift it into manual to mitigate this?
@masterautoreviews15466 ай бұрын
It did not shift randomly. There was a grade up on the highway and it required a lower gear. The reason I switched to manual mode was because I wanted to see in which gear was I. I was curious if it was cruising at 140 km/h in 8th. The second tine I switched to manual was for the same reason. Wanted to know which gear did it shift to for that road inclination.

VW is a much better car. It has more options and it drives better. Overall quality is also better. And Spring was promised to be cheap, but it isn't. It starts from 19k euro in my country. For 12k as was promised in the beggining it would be a bargain. Now it is cheap comparing to other EVs, but I would better buy something second hand for the same money.
@masterautoreviews15466 ай бұрын
I would agree that the eUp is a better car. In the pricing side it seems the Spring is starting to get some big discounts in some countries and this brings it closer to that 12k euro.

I would like to mention that it is a good practice to check the diameter of the shoes, before purchasing the shoes. It is stamped inside the drum. Also, if the set does not have the mounting accessories (springs, pins, washers), it is good to buy them separately.

Your specs are outdated. The Ariya 2WD also offers a LR version priced about the same as a MY SR, with 22kW AC charging and there will be faster AWD versions that will be priced much cheaper than Tesla MY. The Ariya can easily dethrone the MY in specs and price, Tesla only wins on hype.
@SueC562 жыл бұрын
Tesla can charge faster on a high speed dc charger. The Ariya is very interesting, too.

33kW vs. 61kW. There is no doubt which one I would choose. My current car has 55kW and I would definitely not buy a weaker one. A badly underpowered car is not suitable for modern hectic traffic.
@wassimbakir29372 жыл бұрын
but you missed somthing : both are limited at 130 km (125 for the spring ) , and with such small baterries and similar autonomy both aren't suitable for highways ( 1h to charge the car so you can drive for an hour and half .... ) and will performe similarly in urban zones so you don't really need that extra power
