My lyman ohaus balance beam scale in use since 1966 ($16.00), clearly indicates adding a single kernel of h-4350 to the pan. 5 kernels constitute 0.1 grain. The scale is positioned at eye level to eliminate parallax. I motorized a lyman trickler with a foot control to deliver a kernel or a few to a thrown charge.

I got the Sox scale brand new in an auction. Just gonna use it for package weight checks. What is meant by legal for trade?

Some people (not the guy in the video) think they can alter gravity with electronic devices. What really happens is simply that a digital balance reacts strongly to electromagnetic interference, even from regular home phones. When they put something stronger on the digital balance and turn it on, they see a quite significant mass reduction, and they think it is real. It took me just a few seconds to figure this out, and find a video to confirm it. Maybe watching a lot of Mr. Monk can help in physics too. 😃 The most ironic thing about this is that an electronic balance measures mass, not weight, and therefore, if this was real, it wouldn't even be altering gravity, but altering mass.

Regarding the accuracy of internal cal weights, I have scrapped weights used in the older analytical non-strain gauge (actual & electro) balances used for setting the various weight ranges and found them to all agree with one another whether they be Denver, Mettler, Ohaus or Sartorius, (I never had an older A&D balance to scrap). I had asked Mettler and Sartorius tech about the cal class the internal non cal wts used and they would not give an answer but said they far exceeded standards. Nebulous answers from metrology firms. Scrapping a Mettler AT400, I thought the internal cal wts in this would be super, but when checking, they seemed off their mark. Inquiring, Mettler told me the internal cal wt was quite accurate, (as in better than Class E1), but not necessarily an expected wt such as 200 or 400g; rather, the actual wt used for calibration was stored in the internal cal software and displayed a massaged expected wt like the 200 or 400g. So, it would seem using the internal cal wts from a newer, strain gauge based balance, at least from a Mettler, probably would not work unless that internal number assigned and locked away in the software could be accessed. Oh well.

Suggestion: * Open the container for the cal wt and then put on the glove for handling the wt itself. Questions: * Are the serial numbers stamped onto the cal wts themselves? * Are there any markings on the wts themselves indicating the cal wt class? Regards,

I am doing the drying kinetic on food materials. I put my samples drying in an oven. During a certaine time, I take my samples out and weight to see the evaluation of mass a long the time. Therefore, Could you tell me if there is any impact on this balance when the hot sample is weighted? Does the samples need to reduce the temperature by putting the desicator before weighting?
