You got a better deal than the 10m unbranded Chinese pole I bought from Aliexpress, it broke as I extended it for the first time, hadn't even got it all the way out of the plastic bag it came in. The third from bottom piece split up 3/4 of it's length vertically and made the 10m length useless. I could still use the top sections as a 4-5m pole. I contacted the seller and not only wouldn't they replace the item due to a manufacturing fault out of my control, they wouldn't even supply a replacement section unless I returned the broken piece first, the return postage alone was going to cost me $100+ MORE than I paid for the pole in the first place....I bought another one from a different seller, same pole, little cheaper than the broken one, and it's been sitting fully extended in my yard with a 10m flowerpot antenna on it for 3 years now, the second and third section from the bottom slip and collapse now and then, but I lay it down, pull them back up and stand it up again. Some of the Chinese stuff is good, some is garbage, you take your chance when you roll the dice...I also have a couple of 5m and a 7.5m pole that I use a lot portable, and they are still going strong after 3-4 years of intermittent usage with 3 element 2m yagi or 6m moxon or hentenna on them, so they can take a bit of punishment.

Thanks for sharing! My DX Commander classic mast broke. I contacted Loke and ordered two replacement masts I guess I can get them from DX Engineering now. I kept all the old sections in the instant a different section breaks.

Great job! Thanks for sharing. As a side note, I put my radio control head (icom 2730) on the seat bolt stalk and it's not in the way off the passenger or the shifter. However, it is farther off to the side so I have to turn my head more to see the radio. :)

They also sell single replacement sections. If it was a manufacturing defect, they might replace for free.

I had a 28-foot Jackite pole in permanent service for a few years without any issues. I think it’s likely that there was a defect in yours. I did later break the top section, and the bottom cap cracked, I ordered both from Jackite. I’m a fan of Jackite poles.

I know it's been a hot minute since this went up, but I saw that you are still using this setup within the last year. Have you ever considered using one of the 17ft+ telescopic whips (and maybe a loading coil) vs a set of Hamsticks? You could put the whip on a quick connect, so you can remove it while riding, and they can collapse down rather compact. A BD7IBI 5.6M telescopic off AliExpress will collapse down to ~20in, which 'should' fit in your tail bag (might even be able to leave it on the mount when collapsed). This would give you 10-20M with just that single whip. If you add something like a Wolf River Coil Mini or Sporty Forty, you'd pick up 30M & 40M (maybe down to 80M with the Mini), and they are no more than 10" long... That means you can also lose the 2nd mount, as it wouldn't be needed, and get 10-40M, with easier adjustability, with a single antenna solution.... Just a thought 73

I have just purchased this particular unit after having had a rotten run with unbranded RED CHINESE audio heads & I can honestly say I have three (3) yeah thats right 3 of these useless piles of sheer & utter crap. The biggest hassle in my opinion is the over heating factor as I never really got this problem sorted out to my total satisfaction dispite my technical background with the computer industry inclusive of the cooling factor!! (yeah right) Any rate have only bench tested this unit (Atoto F7-XE) & to date there is just no comparison between this Atoto & the sheer rubbish I was playing around with previously!! For mere starters, proper instructions & actually written in an understanable level of good english as against the pathetic Chinese attempt of totally broken english!! Proper packaging as well as various additional bits & pieces including a screen protector can you believe which came with the unit & it didn't arrive at my door packed in the usual mere plastic bag that the chinese are so well known for. I've since learnt (the hard way) that merely buying the cheapest (RED CHINESE) product around should not be your main objective & my advice therefore is to pay the extra up front to ensure that you are getting good product in the first instance & not some load of sheer cheap & utter rubbish that should to all intents & purposes still be sitting on a dusty shelf somewhere inside of Red China & where it rightfully belongs!! For monetary value alone this Atoto unit F7-XE is really good value & fairly easy to setup. I know its not top of the line but neither is the price & all indications to date are that it is 200% better than the sheer rubbish I have been trying to buy recently & it'll absolutely suffice for most people who just want a reasonably good level of sound etc in their vehicle. I'll do a proper detailed update once I've installed this unit in my vehicle & its up & running!! (understandee de englishee???)

I just lower the tire a little. Remove the license plate to expose a big hole to access it. Spin it till the side you push on with your tire iron is facing you. Give it a good hit.

What a bunch of a dung this radio must be. Externals based upon the venerable Midland 100+ took all the downsides off 100+ and added a couple of an tacky bells and whistles. DIN microphone socket is such a crap of a solution. Same microphone casing as 100+ what was it's worst part, cheap and cheesy and so grotesque small. Also it will break soon, as the 100+ mics did. Then solid mounted power cord... I am left speechless here. It just cries out loud for an type Uniden/Midland export radio three prong power socket. Hate up/down style buttons for the channel selector but since there's not much space for an rotary encoder I would not waste the bottom row for a nonsense functions but rather have a memory slots instead. What for this asq button is? Why not to get it done as a sq potentiometer switch same as presidents? Roger beeps? What an silly idea to waste yet another button for, why not to add an switchable nb/anl instead? A state LED indicators? Yet another wasted space, what otherwise I'd have as an very generic S meter. Then we are at this stupid heatsink. More power? Really? I'd rather get better AM modulation over an option for an illegal power levels, what are not bringing much more than an extra power draw. I'd rather be willing to get nice compact basic rig over a bumpy and awkward piece of a heatsink spoiling this rig main advantage - it's "compactness". From what I see and hear, it sounds crap, even worse than an original Midland 100+, got all the downsides off 100+ and more and internally I would guess it is one of typical cheesy "anytone" circuits packed up into 100+ enclosure. Pity, since it could be better featured cb radio gaining from a classic simplicity lay out.

What, you don't want the " tick tick tick " sound of death? I have a 11 with the 4.8. Its a turd, but doesn't have all that crap on it. I soak it with diesel fuel and bar and chain oil every fall in hopes it will last forever. Fat chance.

The LED illuminated on the device likely draws only milliamps. That should not "drain" the battery for a couple of weeks or longer. A battery maintainer makes that a moot point.
